[PS3] Ginormous mountains of metal get trigger-happy in handful of screens
Aug 8, 2006
Without question, Mobile Suit Gundam: Crossfire is one of the PS3's best-looking launch games. Featuring meticulously detailed giant robots that look like weathered, imposing monsters covered in thick slabs of metal, it's possibly the closest any console game has ever come to photorealism. Unfortunately, all those big, beautiful steel titans just make it even sadder that Crossfire somehow manages to make giant robots with big guns and mammoth lightsabers dull. Adapting the events of the first ...

While we've seen a few PlayStation 3 launch games go from stinkers to worthy contenders in a few short months, none have improved quite so quickly as Mobile Suit Gundam: Crossfire. Since we first played it in September, the game has gone from bland and boring to a sweet-looking giant-robot sim, and the finished version we've just played is looking to be a worthy entry in the first wave of PS3 games. As we've previously reported, Gundam enables players to fight on either side of a conflict ...   » Read Full Mobile Suit Gundam: Crossfire preview
Mobile Suit Gundam: Crossfire - updated hands-on
Giant-robot gameplay gets a much-needed coat of polish as it gets ready for launch

We've been pretty hard on Mobile Suit Gundam: Crossfire in the past, and with good reason. The last couple of times we played it, the giant-robot simulator was flat, lifeless and clumsy, with mechs trudging around in barren environments that were little more than window dressing for unremarkable third-person shooting. In the short span of time since then, though, the game has gone through a whole raft of improvements. When we saw it during Sony's PS3 preview event in San Francisco, it was ...   » Read Full Mobile Suit Gundam: Crossfire preview
Mobile Suit Gundam: Crossfire - hands-on
These steel titans look great, but will driving them be any fun?
Oct 2, 2006
On paper, it's a recipe for hotness: take a bunch of photorealistic giant robots, arm them with laser swords, huge axes and big guns, and let them bash each other to pieces on big, open battlefields. Somehow, though, what we've seen so far of Mobile Suit Gundam: Crossfire falls short of being awesome. To be fair, though, we haven't seen very much of it. Adapting Japan's best-loved giant-robot anime series, Gundam will tell the story of a war between Earth and its space colonists, who've ...   » Read Full Mobile Suit Gundam: Crossfire preview
