In a recent statement, Konami Customer Service revealed that it has taken action against 113 individuals accused of cheating in Metal Gear Online. Konami will not divulge any details of the "action" taken but they said they are taking the matter seriously and urge the community to provide any evidence users may have regarding "prohibited behavior".

Here is what the statement said:

Konami has a firm policy regarding cheating in Metal Gear Online. It will not be tolerated. In keeping with this position, we have taken action against 113 accounts participating in prohibited behavior.

The role of the gaming community in keeping Metal Gear Online free of this type of activity cannot be overstated. You are the first line of defense. We encourage you to report instances of prohibited behavior and ask that you provide any evidence you may have regarding these events.

All reports will be reviewed; necessary and appropriate actions to address the issue will be taken immediately. Due to privacy concerns, we will not be able to notify you of our findings, nor of the actions taken to resolve the reported violation.

Solid Snake continues to get it done for Konami. Today, the Japanese game maker reported its results for the April-December period, saying that total revenues for the first nine months of its 2009 fiscal year grew 5.1 percent to ¥234 billion ($2.56 billion). Konami's profit margins also continued to outpace the year-ago period, given that net income rose 17.3 percent to ¥17.8 billion ($195 million).

Metal Gear Solid 4 helped push Konami to strong gains over the last nine months. Despite a strong yen and a soft global economy, the Japanese company saw net revenues of ¥234,011 million ($2.6 billion) -- five percent up on the previous year.

Konami's overall profits were ¥17,826 million ($198.8 million), up nearly 17.3 percent year over year. Specifically, the company's video game business saw greater net revenues than any other Konami division, up 10.6 percent to ¥148.7 billion ($1.6 billion) -- well more than half the company's total.

Konami lifts the curtain on its 'Welcome Rookie" MGO campaign for PlayStation 3.

Konami is attempting to wrangle in more new Metal Gear Online gamers today as it announced a "Welcome Rookie" campaign for the online tactical shooter. The campaign aims to provide new users who register up until February 16th, 2009 with a special codec pack which includes new voice content and 5,000 in-game reward points which can be used to get new items for players' characters.

Uh, because for some strange reason White Knight Chronicles has outsold Metal Gear Solid 4 in Japanese software sales despite its horrid reviews from Famitsu (who scored the game 27/40 - Haze received higher praise). (REMEMBER THIS ONE IS ONLY AVAILABLE IN THE JAPANESE VERSION OF MGS4).

When you've downloaded this podcast it'll be available via Snake's iPod which is available in the ITEMS menu.

The MGS4 Integral Podcast Episode 3 has been delayed for Europe/UK and North America. The new date hasn't been published yet. Stay tuned for more details.

Remember the EXTRAS menu will be updated every week on a Thursday, weather or not any of the downloads will actually be anything more than songs and camouflage patterns is yet to be seen. Give it time.
