Announced today that the greatest Super Hero action/RPG team-up just got a super-powered upgrade with Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2 downloadable content, now available until December 31, 2009, for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system.

"Cletus Kasady, AKA Carnage, is making his way to Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2, and he's much more than another Spider-Man clone.

Carnage is what happened when comic book writers looked at one of Spider-Man's most powerful foes, Venom, and decided he just wasn't dangerous enough. Marvel describes Carnage as a total psychopath with no sense of honor, where Venom is a slight psychopath with a fair to middling' sense of honor.

Over at the official Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 web page, lead animator Adam Olshan assuages players concerns that Carnage winds up just another version of Spider-Man or Venom."

Remember last week? Remember how uneventful it was? Well guess what, that's over this week. While game wise the selection is about the same on the PS3 and PS2 – this week it is all about the PSP Go. Oh yes, after just a few short months of waiting since E3, the PSP Go launches this week (October 1 to be exact)! Included this week in their special PSP Go Launch Center are the two big releases this week for both the Go and PSP 1000-3000 and those are Gran Turismo and MotorStorm: Arctic Edge.

On PS3 the biggest release this week is the sequel to Ninja Gaiden Sigma. Slated originally as a 360 exclusive (as was the predecessor), the sequel comes to us with more features, better graphics, and maybe even more cleavage!

On the bluray side of things the biggest release this week is the 70th Anniversary Collector's Edition of The Wizard of Oz. Outside of taking a stroll down the yellow brick road, they have two animated flicks for you – one featuring Monsters and Aliens, the other featuring Superman and Batman. To finish it there is a 2003 remake of a classic coming to high def for the super low price of $10 and one of the better independent films of 2009!

Activision has confirmed to GamerZines that She-Hulk will be making an appearance in Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2.

Talking to GamerZines in an exclusive interview, Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2's executive producer Jennifer O'Neil broke the news, saying that "all over the place you'll fight against different types of mini-bosses that are relevant to the storyline."

"You're going to see She-Hulk and other cool Marvel characters which you'll need to formulate a strategy about how to counter their powers."

If you're thinking the pending digital release of Marvel vs. Capcom 2 is any indication that the path is clear for "Marvel vs. Capcom 3," think again. "The short answer is no, that's not any part of this deal," Capcom's Seth Killian lamented to Joystiq at a media event yesterday. "What we're hoping is that if people get really juiced about this title, and we can show Marvel that there's a lot of heat behind this, then they'll open up the door for us to do something with '3,' which is something we'd love to do." For now, licensing issues are preventing further developments.

Xbox360Achievements reports the release date for Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2.

"In Marvel's Q1 2009 report, posted earlier today, it was revealed that their upcoming Capcom collaberation for the Xbox Live Arcade, Marvel v Capcom 2, is scheduled to hit the service on June 29th.

In other Marvel news, the report also notes that Marvel's other big hitter for the Xbox 360 in 2009, Activision's Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2, is scheduled for a September 2009 release, whilst SEGA's Iron Man 2 is currently set for an April 2010 release."

Raven Software surprised many gamers when it released the two X-Men Legends games, followed by Marvel: Ultimate Alliance -- both because the co-op-focused action RPG gameplay was a departure from the studio's FPS roots, and because they were uncharacteristically well-received for licensed titles.

With Raven now developing two shooters, the role of lead creating the 2009-due Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2: Fusion has fallen to Vicarious Visions.

Though the studio has made a name for itself as a premier handheld developer -- with its portable Tony Hawk titles often earning higher praise than their home console counterparts -- it is developing the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions; n-Space and Savage Entertainment are handling Nintendo DS and Wii.

Speaking to Gamasutra on their task, creative director Dan Tanguay spoke on the role reversal. "Certainly this is the first time in a couple of years for me that I've been working on a lead SKU," he said.
