This morning we released a new MAG Public Beta update. The new MAG Public Beta update includes a new PSN Title update (version 1.30) and new game data.
While Infinity Ward is abandoning dedicated servers, the guys and gals over at Zipper who are developing the biggest war game to ever grace any gaming console, decided that there are too many benefits to not use them.
Today, October 12 marks the start of the GameStop and EB Games pre-order MAG Public Beta period. At 10:00 AM this morning, all those who pre-ordered MAG from GameStop or EB Games in Canada received access to the MAG Public Beta and joined existing Public Beta users.
NextGN: "Technically, the game feels like what you would expect from the Beta. My biggest gripe was the grenade physics, they feel clunky and their bounce effects are very strange, but aside from that, the controls feel incredibly intuitive and smooth, even though the weapons feel somewhat light. Keeping in mind this is only a Beta, I can see myself playing this a lot when it launches. Once you begin to understand the intricacies of the title, MAG becomes a pleasure to play, and I can safely say this is one of the best Betas I have been a part of. Keep your eyes on this game!"

GOONL!NE writes: "If you haven't heard, MAG is here. To be specific, the MAG beta, putting upwards of 16,000 players in a 256-man battlefield, has gone live. Not one of those lucky 16,000? We've got a treat for you…

Using your US account, login and under the win tab choose "mag psn promotion code". Do all 5 quizzes (you have to answer them correctly, use the trial and error method) and BANG you get a code.
ConnectedConsoles: When Sony put up a competition for over 17,000 codes for the MAG Beta, Sony didn't think it would turn into this much of a fuss. Two days ago, the European SOCOM & MAG Franchise Producer Shijima said that everyone who signed up for the competition would get a code yesterday around 3pm BST. This only seems to be the matter for some. Thousands of PS3 fanatics got theirs, thousands of others didn't. Today, Shijima has still given those waiting hope by posting a message on the official PlayStation forums.
GOONL!NE writes; "Like that excited kid on Christmas, if you're one of the 11,000 in the UK still to get your MAG Beta Code, check your inbox. There should be a little surprise waiting for you…
GOONL!NE: Zipper Interactive Creative Director Ed Byrne has told GOONL!NE at a MAG hands-on event in Dublin that although they cant talk about DLC for now, it would be "great" if it happened.
Still need into the MAG beta?
The Lost Gamer writes "Today Sony have unveiled their line up for the upcoming Eurogamer Expo at the end of October, and if this isn't enough to get any gamer heading to either Leeds or London then we're not sure why!"
Moments ago we received (another) MAG beta invite, but this time on our European PlayStation Network Account. If you happen to live in Europe, check your inbox to see if you have been lucky enough to have received a code. The beta in Europe will run until October 9th 2009 from 17:00 to 20:00 BST and 00:00 and 03:00 BST.
ARS: After the giveaway for the Brutal Legend demo codes, I became a little cynical. Why give stuff away if all anyone is going to do is complain about GameStop and argue about demos? I'm giving you guys stuff, and all I get are complaints, complaints, complaints.
Earlier today, Zipper Interactive prepped for an influx of new beta participants as the closed MAG beta opened up to Qore annual subscribers, SCEE lottery winners, frequent forum posters, and select media. They also launched a new patch that essentially was comprised of the entire game, so they could further test MAG's higher player count matches. The PlayStation community had counted down to this day since it was announced late last month.
Sony is currently sending out codes to Qore subscribers and other Sony fans via email so they may gain access to the ongoing MAG beta, which will run into November of this year. Currently, the download file is around 3GBs of data, but there's a chance this may soon double in size.
PSXE has 100 codes for the MAG beta test that starts today!!! Here's your chance to get into one of the most anticipated betas of the year; 256 players online is NUTS!
