LittleBigPlanet

This planet is definitely big enough for the four of us

So, is it possible you haven’t heard of LittleBigPlanet? Unlikely, especially if you own a PS3, considering it’s one of the most anticipated PS3-exclusive titles on the way. In short, it’s a series of funky-coloured, physics-rich platforming stages where you’ll need to manipulate the game world in order to get to the end.

Platforming? Physics-driven? Yeah, we know, those two things are rarely a formula for gaming joy. But, LBP is different. Very different. The screens and movies should ram that home like a cattle prod to your smile muscles.

LBP’s world is held together by glue and stitches. The idea is to truly play with the world, and not just obey it. You can run, jump and grab objects with a glowing thread of rope, and tug them along. Which sounds simple, but it’s got lots of mileage. Many objects in the game are made from felt, wood, leather, metal and sponge, and behave like the real thing. How many other games let you grab felt and sponge, and let you feel it?
