Unlike the screens released last week, you can actually see what's happening in this new batch of shots from Atari's dark shooter, Legendary.
The plot tells of a Charles Deckard - "an art thief who is duped into stealing Pandora's Box. When he inadvertently opens it, he releases hordes of beasts thought to be fictional - such as werewolves and gryphons - into an unprepared modern world."

Legendary doesn't waste any time letting you warm up on the typical indistinguishable helmet-wearing marines. The first steps you take into the myth-mashed world have you dodging gigantic griffons and the cars they hurl at your face. Then, before you have a chance to get used to side-stepping two-ton birds with beaks that can snap you in half as if you were a worm in the clutches of a blue jay, they throw a car golem at you.
You can use the darkness of shadows to achieve a spooky ambience, but go too far and you get a blind man, like these shots of FPS, Legendary.The game features a "mix of real-world locations like New York and London, mythical beasties and your typical FPS run 'n' gun gameplay," and you can read more about that in Playstation World Magazine's preview.

Yeah, we'll give E3 its props. But the last thing we needed is another ginormous game expo that lets the big boy publishers hog the spotlight and peddle their billion dollar franchises front and center. Enter the grassroots showcase, Expo for Interactive Entertainment: Independent and Original - or more preferably pronounced as the sing-songy EIEIO.
