A quick look at the Killzone.com leaderboards shows that Killzone 2 has just reached the 1 million players online milestone, just 2 months after its release. By that count, approximately 2/3 of the people that have purchased the game have played a match online.

Guerilla will be further enhancing Killzone 2's multiplayer experience with the Steel and Titanium DLC package, which includes 2 new multiplayer maps and new trophies to collect, later this week. Killzone.com was also recently updated, allowing you to download match replays.

Killzone 2 has sold over 200,000 copies in the UK, with Halo 3 finally reaching 1 million sold for Microsoft's Xbox 360.

In the latest ESPLA sales awards (March 2009, April's results have yet to be announced), the PlayStation 3 exclusive Killzone 2 has been awarded the Gold Award. This means that as of the end of March, the game has sold over 200,000 copies in the country.

The Killzone.com site recently received an update allowing you to upload and download battle replays and also updates to the main page with things such as Featured and Upcoming Tournaments and also Featured Matches, and plenty more.

Seb also says among other things that the site is undergoing PSN wide maintenance and will not be up until later in the day. He also says that the release notes for the site's recent update will be posted up once the site is back up and running.

"Those of you who downloaded the latest Killzone 2 update last week may have noticed that the patch, while welcome for its new ranks and exploit fixes, carried with it an unfortunate side-effect. The intro movie, at least for some people, is refusing to skip despite players hammering away on their controls.

I noticed this at the weekend, when I was trying to get my daily KZ2 fix but was unable to shut Emperor Visari up. The game makes a noise as if it's acknowledged your controller input, but will keep playing the opening movie regardless, only skipping until several seconds after the Guerrilla logo has appeared onscreen.

We asked Guerrilla if this was a common problem or just my copy screwing up, but were informed via Twitter that we're not alone. Apparently, this was not a deliberate attempt by Guerrilla to force us to look at its logo and the team is planning to resolve this rather irritating issue."

Sony's genre redefining first person shooter Killzone 2 went on sale in Japan yesterday, to a reasonable amount of success. Though first person shooters aren't nearly as popular in the East as they are in the West, the title sold 20,000 copies it's first day, and is on track to out sell Resistance 2, which sold 33,000 it's opening week. Further, reports are indicating that the game is selling out at some retailers. The Killzone 2 servers were updated earlier this week to allow for the influx of Japanese players in the game.

Earlier bundles were priced at Rs 25,990, Rs 1,000 more than the standard console price. But the Killzone 2 bundle is priced at Rs 24,990. A free game or a mini price drop; call it what you want, but this is certainly a great proposition for those who've been waiting to pick up a PS3. The bundle should be in stores by the end of April.
