Oxford-based motion capture expert Audiomotion has detailed its role in the making of PlayStation 3 exclusive Killzone 2.

Offering a suite of 130 Vicon MX40+ cameras, Audiomotion delivered all of the performance capture for the cutscenes and over 5000 in-game animations for the first-person-shooter.

In a seeeming U-Turn, Guerilla Games have chosen to clarify their position on the most controversial subject that has surrounded KillZone 2; the control/aim sensitivity.

Despite previous articles submitted as news, Guerilla have never out right rejected the idea of releasing a patch to tweak the XY sensitivity as they emphasised they would look hard at feedback from players. That feedback has come to a resounding conclusion - the controls are an issue to a significant amount.

"It seems that Killzone 2 mania has reached fever pitch as the game has been selling quite well just from pre-orders alone. However, after a quick survey around the retail chains, it seems that the game is selling just as well from walk-in purchases. In fact, in some retail channels the game has completely sold out.

It was announced that Europe alone had 1.1 million pre-orders for the game, which is phenomenal when you consider the fact that our brethrens across the pond really don't care for pre-orders as much as we do. The Dutch PlayStation website PSFocus.nl was recently in discussion with the retailer Futurezone about pre-ordering Killzone 2. Futurezone claimed that it was totaly useless to pre-order Killzone 2.

Pre-orders are to make sure that you get a copy of the game on the day of the release. This was in the case of Killzone 2 unnecessary. Futurezone sells loads of copies of this game everyday but the shelves in the store are still completely full.

Killzone 2 Has an amazing amount of hype surrounding it and no less of that hype upon its release date. It's unbelievable that few people showed up to a couple select GameStop's across the US. Though we can't be to certain about how well it did until the first weeks sales chart is released; hopefully sales pickup during the weekend. I did happen to see a decent amount of people at Target since it always opens earlier than any GameStop.

To celebrate Killzone 2's release on PlayStation 3 today, Sony sent one of their Helghast soldiers down to GamePro headquarters in San Francisco, California this morning to hand out cupcakes with little Helghast-faces on them and to scare the sh*t out of us (and by "us" I mean Dave) before we had a chance to finish our morning coffees.

A GameStop store sold Killzone 2 early and wouldn't give exchanges when people complained that the multiplayer didn't work. Instead, they offered to buy the games back so they could be resold on launch day at a greater profit to the store, assuming they knew ahead of time that the multiplayer wasn't going to work and they would get a lot of returns.
