mikel isnt going to change his review no matter how much anyonecomplains about it. accept that he thinks its a 7/10 and let it be. maybe one day when you grow your big boy hairs you'll understand this.
i think this reveiw does acuratle rate this game but i realy am more of shooter and swordfighting games but the thing is i tried this game and thought it was very boring
i've owned every sony system since the first ps. fanboy? not even. what i a am is an avid gamer sony is just the medium i've chosen, since square and capcom i've been at sonys altar.i agree with the review but it wont stop me from buying it because thats Mikel decision from what he played. if you disagree with the opinion, buy the game and try to enjoy because you like the type of game it is, not because it's a sony exclusive. no one went to war over lair because it was a shitty game, play it, and then tell Mikel what you think, that's have to hold an intelligent conversation. and since do we give a fuck about what gamesradar thinks, am i the only one on here who finished okami? ur gunna buy wut you want regardless so why not do without bitching until it sucks to YOU?
I've played this game for bit and got to a point where i wasnt compelled to go any further. Personally, I probably would have given it lower than a 7. I didnt think it was terrible i just didnt think it was much fun. Just my opinion though, dont let ur head explode. And no i'm not an xbox fanboy
Oh, and good job on the review. You gave ur pros and cons of what YOU thought of the game, which is just what a critic is supposed to do. He did his job ppl.
OMG other sites gave it 8-10...if hes supposed to factor in what other sites rate games then the review would be pointless. We would only need one review from one site so they can say, "well this game did get alot of hype and ppl might get mad if I rate it anything other than phenominal" I GIVE IT A 10!
Ha man92, if your going to attempt to insult me at least try to come up with something original, not something that is thrown around every forum in the internet. See im actually trying to help you, to make you use your brain. Cause clearly you are not if you would argue with the reviewer about his score when you gave it a 8/10 from playing a demo!?
Hey everyone insulting Mikel! Here are my reason why you are stupid.
1. Mikel has said many times in the podcast that he is not taking money from devs.
2. He has played the whole game, you have played the demo. Durka durk.
3. He is a professional game journalist who does this for a living, while you are a fat 35 year old who has never had a girlfriend and is right now sitting in your mom's basement and spilling Cheetohs all over your wifebeater because you are so shocked at this review.
This review does not pan out. Every other place which I trust more than this one like gamespot(9 out of 10) and x play (5 out of 5) for example. give this game a higher more deserving rating. I have played through the entire game and found it to be a very good game and very deserving of a higher rating than a 7. You said that the story plods on as the game progresses and I disagree I found that the game got awesome, especially with the twists in the story like at the end. I agree that some of the side missions seem repetitive at times. Now you also said that empire City was just not fun to explore around, which in some sense I can understand. There are no huge land marks or ginormous buildings, but I find is very enjoyable to power slide along power lines and train tracks. Also finding blast shards also make exploring the city more fun and worth wild.
All in all I just think this review just doesn't give justice to Infamous. Like the x play review for Infamous says "If you have a PS3 and you don't play Infamous your dumb"!
Why are there so few comments on the actual game now that we've played it? I've enjoyed the part I've played so far, almost to the end of the first island. The climbing is a lot like Assassin's Creed, but more irritating. The radar is almost useless for enemy spotting, and the enemies look like they're going to be very repetitive, and it's incredibly hard to tell where you're being shot from. Why don't the pedestrians run away instead of getting blasted by lightning, or gunfire?
I like the game, and would give it higher than a 7. The fact that I haven't had anything new to play for a quite a while plays some part in my desire to play this, too. This game certainly won't convince people that they should be supporting the PS3 ( I believe if the PS3 had better support it would clearly blow away the 360, but this isn't the way.) Good game so far, I hope anything else coming our way, like Prototype, is even better.
After getting 8 pages into the comments (who thought I'd be saying THAT phrase at 5:50 in the morning...) I gave up. While there is NO chance in hell I am going to get entangled in this web of defication that is the "fanboy war" (or what I call kiddy-present-justification syndrome. KPJS for short), I think that while this review is different from others I've read, that makes it no less valid. If anything, it promotes a higher quality of game publication, since it allows the makers to go: "Hmm. I guess we didn't get it all right. Y'know what? We'll make a better quality product, and get those high schores next time!".
Frankly, it just annoys me at how all the people here arguing against the review are just vying for attention (yes, "vying" is a word, stop asking...). Actually. No. Stop. I'm not doing that.
As a 360 owner, no, I don't know if the game is good or not. But, don't forget, we DID have our own superpowered sandbox game. Crackdown. And while I, myself, would not have rated it "OMG PERFECT" game-wise, fun-wise, it was a good hit. And yes, there IS a difference. A BIG one.
Mr Reparaz. I have nothing but the utmost respect for the work that you do, and the job that you have. Let's face it, most of the nay-sayers here barely have time to articulate their thoughts. You're lucky it's not just coming out as "ugg ugg ugga ug". Reading your review, I see a lot of good points, and it all comes down to trust when it comes down to a review.
Do you trust the reviewer's opinion?
Just because you've heard their name before, DOESN'T make them trustworthy. If anything, Mr Reparaz is more trustworthy than anyone, since his opposition toward people of your nature is so fierce, that it only strengthens his resolve to never cave in to your pressure, and give the scores he feels worthy for the game.
Though, I'll admit... Tree's comment that it's the consoles that ave made us "junkies arguing about some rating on a videogame site" made me chuckle a little... Unfortunately, after looking at their profile, it was not ironic... Oh, how the humour is gone...
No. I did not spell "humour" incorrectly. I'm English.
Just... Wanted not to give anyone any ammo against me. No matter how retarded it may be.
I've been playing like there is no tomorrow for the past couple of days and can't get enough of it - I just have to stop in order to get some work done (and, if possible, take an actual shower...)
The game is in my opinion AMAZING!!!
I really see no reason why someone would be willing to pick up a gun in Infamous and start shooting bullets - the electric shooting in every mode(power) is excellent.
As far as travelling is concerned - sorry, Mikel: I've unlocked all three islands, freed 100% of the first two and can move about via power lines and railway tracks really fast and it's so much more fun than taking a cab or a car. I mean we have traffic in real life - why should we have it in every game we play as well???
The city is not as totally varied as in Crackdown but each district does have it's own discreet feeling and the atmosphere as weel as the time of day that each storyline branches out sets a completely different tone to the each part.
The fact that it doesn't have radical differences between districts though is definitely not a problem - at least not for me anyway.
Be that as it may Empire city is beautifully realised - filled with fascinating details and textures and really looking as if it was conceived and created with the utmost care so that it may convey to the player a living, breathing city unlike any yet seen in a supeheroic videogame after Crackdown (which, by the way, had a fascinating ultra-stylistic art direction).
The comparissons with the absolutely bland and unisterestingly looking cities of the spiderman and hulk games really are unjustified...
The combat (melee & shooting) is fantastic and Cole's movement a sheer joy.
As far as scant enemies popping out even after you've freed a part of the city - what is the problem with that? It would be an extremely boring experience if you didn't have anything else to do around there once the missions where done. And you also gain xp points so that you can exchange for power upgrades so it's double the fun.
The boss fights are great and you are having fights with semi-bosses (Conduits) all the time anyway so I really don't mind knowing tha there are going to be three major boss battles.
This isn't "Shadow of the Colossus" for chrissakes with its 16 boss fights (that ultimately was what the whole game was about).
The upgrades are substancial and the powers themselves a beauty to behold and use.
Crackdown was and still is great fun but Infamous is for me another gem in my collection and completely undeserving a 7.
Some people here have suggested that we should not critisize a reviewer's work. That is not correct: by submitting a review in any public forum (in our case a videogame publication)the critic in fact exposes him or herself to the judgement of his readers. It isn't the word of god - and even for that we have centuries of theological discussion behind us so even god get's backtalk - why should gamesradar be any different?
True, Mikel is entitled to his opinion - but then again so are we.
Hence this comments' section.
This may come as a suprise to some but the comments' section really does fulfil other purposes other than shouting "FIRST!" like 3-year-olds...
Anyway - to anyone concerned: this game is very good - much better than this review implies - and it would be an injustice to yourselves if you didn't at least rent it in order to experience this game's many hours of pleasure.
