...Honestly...so many idiots...can you people not realize that two different people reviewed Haze and inFamous? Or that this is a fucking opinion? Get the hell over it asswipes. Fanboys are the scum of the video game world and they just proved themselves. Can all the game sites please just start banning these guys? Please?

Oh, argument. Every time I want toleave, you pull me back in.

A 7 is "just wrong"? No. It's not. You know why? Because it's an OPINION. Opinions can't be wrong.

@Hillcrest: You know, prior to your post, I wasn't actually aware that Metacritic weighted scores by publication. Now that I know, well, obviously I'm disappointed, and obviously I disagree, but I also don't need Metacritic's stamp of approval on my work (as much as that MC-baiting final paragraph might suggest otherwise).

As for further justification, I think the review speaks for itself. If anyone would like me to elaborate on any specific points or complaints, however, by all means ask away.

As for your assertion that the score is 10 points below the norm, well, from my perspective it's one point. Because we only score games using whole numbers, and because our policy is to round down in the event of any doubt (the idea being that our obligation is to consumers, not publishers), my only option after deciding that the game wasn't quite good enough to be an 8 was to go to 7.

Finally, regarding Prototype: I'm under no obligation to pretend that I haven't played it, or that I didn't enjoy what I played more than I did inFamous. I was completely up front about my experience with it, both in the actual article and in the comments. If I had tried to misrepresent that, then yes, that would have been unprofessional.

And please, don't feel sorry for me. If anything, the reaction to this review has been much milder and more interesting than what I anticipated.

Jezus!
I just opened my twitter, saw that all hell broke loose and came over to read the review but not even in my wildest dreams would I ever imagine the shitstorm that would be all the rage for or against this review...
Personally I find 7 not exactly a whooping success of a score but it's an opinion and that seems to be Mikel's job: to deliver his own opinion, not the hopes and aspirations of other publications or fanboys all around.

Be that as it may I don't think that I agree with the whole review.
liked the demo very much to be honest and am still playing it in anticipation to the actual game.

Also from what I've seen (infamous demo & mainly gameplay videos of infamous + Prototype) I think that the remarks about the unremarkable Empire City don't do it justice when compared to Prototype's New York: the latter game's cityscape looks very much like simple boxes with some generic pasted-on textures which is certainly not the case with Infamous.

Another thing regarding not being able to drive around in cars: in Crackdown (an amazing game in my opinion which I still enjoy playing even today) I never used a car from a point onwards. These are superhero videogames - why would anyone not enjoy the fun of pulling superheroic stunts and revert to gta driving around...?
I love GTA IV but if I want to play GTA I will go and do exactly that.
In Infamous the platforming was quite fun and I will definitely prefer to glide or slide on rails and power lines instead of getting in any vehicle.
The same goes for guns - why bother when you've got the electric "equivalents" of gun, shotgun, rocket launcher, sniper rifle, grenade and even an orbital strike capability(lightning storm)??? We3've got guns & ammo kind of games in this generation of consoles to last us a lifetime and there is still more to come so it's nice to get something with a bit more imagination for a change.

Anyway, Mikel rated the game as he saw fit and gave in his review all the reasons why - even if I don't completely agree - and even if I think that I'll enjoy this much more than this review implies - it's good to see someone state his opinion clearly no matter what and back it up against truckloads of fanboy abuse.

Keep it up, Mikel.

Looks like a mix between Star Wars Forced Unleashed and GTA. I do believe it is one of those games that is good but just doesn't stand out because there are so many others like it. Great review! :D

Dear God! what is it with fanboys! if areviewer gives a game 0.1 less than they think it deserves (even when they havnt even played the game) they go off there tits in a virgin induced rage.
After playing the demo for this game i thought it was ok but also felt very restricted for the sort of game it was. All these idiots who are moaning about the reviewers comments about prototype, well arent you judging a game from a demo!?
Il wait and see how prototype fairs in the reviews but the reviewer is intitled to his thoughts on what he has played of the game so far, and it sounds promising.
hardcore_gamer1990  - 6 months 10 days ago
I think the reason people are so upset about the game is that they cant respect anothers opinion

I, on the otherhand, can
But it so happens that I agree with this anyway
AND I'm a PS3-er all teh way, so backoff with those shit cannons, fanboy fucks. Leave Mikel alone

Keep being contraversial, Mikel. It makes good reading and you're entilted to your opinion

Also, I still maintain that the "out of 10" rating system is fucked up and people think that a 7 is mediocre

Technically, by involving myself in this arguement, i have infact become a Mikel Reparaz FanBoy

I felt the game didn't deserve the 9/10s it was getting. Although a great game it isn't outstanding at all.
man92  - 6 months 10 days ago
what a joke, i used to like gamesradar so much, this review has made me lose respect for gamesradar.

there are at least 8 or 9 other reviews that say 9/10 or 8/10

gamesradar think they are better than metacritic, and trying too show off by standing out of the crowd.

i made gamesradar account just to let my fury out. i think this makes me a sony fanboy.
man92  - 6 months 10 days ago
gamesradar sack the reviewer and appoint someone better. this is an outrage.

this reviewer is an xbot.

man92 - I sure hope that was sarcasm for your sake, cos if it wasnt you have just advertised to the internet who much of feeble brained turd you are. You should do the honourable thing and inject an air bubble into your bloodstream.
man92  - 6 months 10 days ago
sebastian, i guess that makes you a casual non nerd/geek cool man then. you are clever enough to judge a persons intelligence through your keboard and monitor. before i inject an airbubble into my bubblestream i suggest you shove it up your ass.

my opinions do not change, the reviever is an asshole.
SebastianMcChuff  - 6 months 10 days ago
Haha man92, you do realise you are having a hissy fit about a reviewer giving a score 1 point, ONE bloody point less than what you think it deserves. Now I dont pretend to have the highest IQ in the world but the fact that you chime in with these typical fanboy comments and paranoia about bias proves that I have damn sight higher IQ than you. Why dont you just play the game and try to monitor the diarrhoea that comes out of your mouth. Though to be honest its retards like you that keep amused in these comment sections.
SebastianMcChuff  - 6 months 10 days ago
Hang on man92! you want me to put the syringe up my ass first and then youl inject yourself with it!? thats a bit fruity of you, whatever floats your boat.

how does this lose to Bionic Commando , this review stinks. FIX UP games rader. This is not a Super review.
moonrad  - 6 months 10 days ago
After playing the demo, I think that Mike's review was justified. I felt a little let down by the controls and somewhat dissatisfied by the play-through.
