You made it sound like an 8...
Hiimad  - 6 months 10 days ago
Yeah you fucked up the Halo Wars review and you fucked this one up too. Thanks for another disaster, GR.

Yeah,7 out of 10 for a game ive played frequently and really enjoyed since launch day. The lowest review it got from sites i frequent now was a 9.
MGS4SolidSnake  - 6 months 10 days ago
i havent played it at all but ill say it is probably an 8...u guys have a history of reviewing ps3 games lower(eg mgs4, killzone 2)
MGS4SolidSnake  - 6 months 10 days ago
not that other ps3 games scores were bad some were great actually...no game should get a 10 but then u guys gave halo3 a 10 and i have no clue y...i have played it a lot online and the campaign(which is horrible btw)and it is no way worthy of a 10...if halo3 gets a 10 then games like mgs4 and gears of war should get like 11's

Wait wait wait.... this site gave Halo 3 a 10? Are you fucking kidding me? Is this site run by 13 year olds? Are they sponsored by Mountain Dew? Gears of War, MGS4, Killzone 2, are all better than shite Halo 3... And infamous is better than the 7 they are giving it, look at what every legitimate gaming site is giving it. Surely there could have been a better person to review this game, ie one that isn't looking forward to Prototype, one that isn't tired of the superhero genre (if thats even a genre), or finally one that enjoys gaming in general. Anyway as I said earlier I dont think anyone comes to this site for the reviews anyway, good work making this review longer than a paragraph! I have next weeks TOP 7 list by the way.

The TOP 7 games we should rescore
1.Halo 3 with a fucking 10. No way this shite game is perfect.

"BTW, the 7 score from this site literally lowered Infamous overall Metacritic score of 87 to 87. This means this site is weighted so low by an independant compilation site that even they consider this site irrelavant."

You do understand how averages work, right?

You might as well have said that Giant Bomb's 100 - which went up the day after this review, along with a few others in the 80-90 range - only sent the average up from 87 to 87.

Oh, and Hank34: http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/xbox360/halo3?q=halo%203

Wow, Mikel, there is some serious hate brewing. You'd better watch out :P I do agree though, The game 100% deserves a 8 at least, and this site is bias, if only a bit. Halo 3 a 10, seriously? I literally feel asleep playing that rubbish.

From what I had seen and heard of inFamous, to what I've seen and heard of Prototype, at first I was trying to figure out who had ripped off who, but now I see that they are much different games. Also are they going to release a Prototype demo on XBL or what because its only like 3-4 weeks away from release.

Assasn,s Creed get a 10 a game that after mission 5 you do the same (climb towers, save citizens, interrogate with I dont know why Altair alwas kill them and so and so) that means that inFamous could be the next big hit or the biggest disapintment,it all depends on the players. to MikelReparaz keep doing a good job expressing you opininon regardless the hype of and opcoming tittle.

@mikel
i didn't mean "just give it an 8"... it was more like: An 8 would've gotten the point across, about it's flaws and about its goodness. You of all people should've known that a 7 sounds not so very good. It's like a kick in the face of OTHER reviewers/sites more than (what i felt)a justified rating.

I did not, however, meant to say it was a bad review. But it's obvious xbots do love this kind of stuff... and the ps3fanboys really get irked... to THIS point. I really thought random name-calling was reserved for yelling pubert teens on shooting games.

I guess i just wanted to say: Dude... i don't feel sorry for you (cuz that'd be gay) but i can certainly feel the pain of dealing with idiots over the internet. Then again, being the Playstation editor... i'm sure you're used to it by now.

May i suggest a grunt rating next time?

Oooo-8
DUDE!-9
HELL YES!-10

(we all know 5s and below don't even count in todays societeh so we can just do away with them)

Hey M,

This will likely be my last response b/c I am starting to feel sorry for you. You seem like a decent guy, not many editors are brave enough to comment on user posts.

Since you commented on my post please allow me to retort:

"BTW, the 7 score from this site literally lowered Infamous overall Metacritic score of 87 to 87. This means this site is weighted so low by an independant compilation site that even they consider this site irrelavant."

Mike: You do understand how averages work, right?

Mike: You might as well have said that Giant Bomb's 100 - which went up the day after this review, along with a few others in the 80-90 range - only sent the average up from 87 to 87."

You essentially proved my point. Yes I understand how averages work, do you? If you go to Metacritic and do the math, the 7 you gave the game (according to the law of averages, nothing fancy, just take the total scores and dividing it by the number of reviews) your review should have lowered the average from 87.3 to 84.5. The fact the average score did not move (at all), proves they are weighting on gamestats and your site, is irrelevant to their scoring. Obviously Giantbomb is another site not being held in high esteem by Metacritic,as you correctly pointed out they did not move the score either.

The point you are missing in these posts is you gave the game such a low review compared to the other 30 sites, including highly credible sites like IGN, Gamespot and GameInformer, people are asking why and you do not seem to have a good answer other than this is my opinion, which is fair enough, if you were sitting in your living room with your friends, but as a journalist I think people want some better justifications than you offer in your article, since you are an outlier on the score by a good 10 points. To my original point, this is just your opinion, your reviews are all over the place and the added touch of mentioning a game you admitted 1) you only had limited access to 2) would be unproffesional to compare because of limited access(in the comments thread). It does bring to question your credibility.

Why so much hostility?! I think that mikel's score for the game is justified and I don't even listen to such shit-talk such as that he's biased. Good review man
njdevils09  - 6 months 10 days ago
In the words of GamesRadar, taken from the inFamous wikipedia article, "Gripped by a powerful indecision, most reviewers end up glancing at the clock, shrugging and tapping the 7 key. Done! Moral crisis averted. Time for a nap."

You know GamesRadar, for the first time, I couldn't agree more.

"The point you are missing in these posts is you gave the game such a low review compared to the other 30 sites, including highly credible sites like IGN, Gamespot and GameInformer"

Honestly, since when are those three sites credible?
StupidTownColonStupidStateColon  - 6 months 10 days ago
Wait, did an argument just go on for 10 pages about review scores, prototype, and fanboys? (I skipped a few pages) and isn't what the average person considers a seven actually a five? This calls for another 7 out of 10 week! But really honest review and I could see how lightning could get bland, when I saw the hud I thought about boredom. I wonder how long I can drag this comment on..........done!
Amnesiac  - 6 months 10 days ago
@Hillcrest:
I might be wrong about this, but I don't think Metacritic weights scores based on some arbitrary and subjective scale of credibility, they are weighted by how big and well-known the publication or site is. That's why the IGNs and Gamespots and GameInformers scores are weighted more heavily than the GRs and GiantBombs. And how ANYONE can say IGN and GI are more credible than a site like GR is beyond me, but that's entirely my own opinion.
TheWoolyMammoth  - 6 months 10 days ago
When the comments take longer to read than the review something is majorly up.
I genuinely can't believe what I've just read.

It's an OPINION, get over it people.
If you like the sounds of the game, buy it anyway?

I wish I could bang you fan boys' heads together, drive me insane.

Why do you all need a high score just because it's on your preferred system only? Does a low one shrink your boners or something?

Finally, good review Mikel!
