Indiana Jones gets brainy buddies

Yet-to-be-named Indy game rocks new tech

LucasArts announced today that their new Indiana Jones title, slated for release on next-generation consoles, will feature some pretty crafty characters. Using some new, fancy-pants artificial intelligence technology, computer-controlled characters in the still-untitled Indie adventure will react to events as they happen.

Rather than relying on scripted behaviors, each scenario can have multiple outcomes based on the reactions of Indie's cohorts. This "behavioral-simulation engine" (how's that for geek-speak) could lead to the ultimate in replayability for the upcoming game, allowing for a different experience every time you play. We'll have more info on Indiana Jones' next adventure from E3 in May, but the game won't see daylight until sometime in 2007.
