PS3 - Heavenly Sword - All New Heavenly Sword Information. May Release? The Official UK Playstation website has recently been updated. With it, a new description of 'Heavenly Sword'.

All appears normal until reaching the meat of the description.

"Battle through lush environments with operatic grace and style taking your fight to the clouds, over water, through tree-tops and more."

This suggests that the fighting on water that was shown in the original concept trailer has made it into the final game. In addition to 'Crouching Tiger' style fighting in the tree tops...and in the clouds.

"Enemies employ complex squad-based fight choreography and can attack one-on-one, in groups of several dozen, or even in battalions of thousands, pushing real-time AI to levels unseen before."
The AI is described more fully here than before, with thousands of enemies and not hundreds being mentioned.

"Wide range of objects and weaponry including multi-skewering spears and devastatingly explosive bazookas."
The weaponry involves more than the three stances of the sword, it is confirmed here that there will be "wide-ranging weaponry", perhaps more than just the bazookas and spears.

"Featuring the acting talents of Andy Serkis, Steven Berkoff and more"
Another highly acclaimed actor is added to the cast. Steven Berkoff has appeared in 'Octopussy', 'A Clockwork Orange', 'Star Trek' and voiced in 'Killzone' the videogame. He is also an acclaimed playwright, author and director.

The updated website also lists 'Heavenly Sword' as releasing in...May 2007.

(NB: Although this website is new, they may have been using old information. However, May 2007 has never been listed on any other official website.)

PS3 - Heavenly Sword - PS3 Heavenly Sword developer Ninja Theory is generally pleased with the PlayStation 3 but admits it can be "an interesting ride" to develop for.

"The PS3 hardware is a bit like a journey into the Marianas trench," said Mike Ball, co-founder of Ninja Theory, speaking to Eurogamer. "There's lots to explore and the deeper you get the more varied the life forms - sometimes horrific, sometimes beautiful."

He added: "Personally I really love the SPUs as they have exceeded our performance expectations and we've got a lot of them to play with."

The comments come after Wednesday night's announcement that the PS3 will launch across Europe on 23rd March at a GBP 425 price-point.

PS3 - Heavenly Sword - SCEA: Killzone 2 in latter half of 2007 In a recent interview with SCEA's Peter Dille, Killzone 2 is mentioned briefly as one of Sony's upcoming titles to release in the second half of 2007.

"I think we have a good first half of the year. Games like Lair that people are really excited about. MLB is coming out and is looking great and is the best-selling sports game from a first-party studio. Motorstorm. Heavenly Sword. And don't forget you have games like Killzone in the back half of the year. We're not really saying that there is one game that consumers have to wait for. I think that the content is there now and the content is coming. It's going to be a steady stream of really great PlayStation 3 content," stated Dille.

PS3 - Heavenly Sword - Sony must create more first-party gaming titles Sony's PS3 may not be selling like hotcakes as they were at launch because of a lack of first-party titles and franchises, says an analyst at IDC.

Billy Pidgeon's comments came just after NPD's games sales figures, which show healthy sales of both the PS3 and PS2, were released.

"The PlayStation brand doesn't appear to be helping the PS3. If NPD's numbers are correct, there are over 300K PS3s on retails shelves," said Pidgeon to GamesIndustry.biz.

"That is not good for a console launch of only a million, and it's not good for publishers with PS3 software."

He suggested that Sony's sales of the PS3 would be healthier if gamers could look forward to upcoming known franchises; although first-party PS3 games Heavenly sword and Motorsport are coming out soon, Pidgeon said, "They're new and less anticipated."

"Sony needs more must-have first party titles to sell consoles. Gamers know Halo 3 is coming on the Xbox 360, and they can expect Mario on the Wii, but there are no established first party franchises coming to the PS3 except Gran Turismo ¿ and that is delayed."

Following an apparent posting on Sony's official PS3 site earlier today, the interwebs erupted with news that jaw-dropping slash 'em-up Heavenly Sword - easily one of the most impressive games shown at the E3 expo in May 2006 - would hit stores on March 6. When we checked, though, the date had disappeared from the game's official page, replaced only with a vague "2007." According to Sony spokesman Alex Armour, the March release date is wrong and was posted by mistake. Plans for the game's ... » Read More

PS3 - Heavenly Sword - MotorStorm, Lair, HS in 2007 A pamphlet included in the US retail PlayStation 3 hardware bundle has shed some light on the release dates for a few of the next-gen system's upcoming exclusives.

According to IGN, the pamphlet reveals that despite MotorStorm enjoying a December release in Japan, where the PS3 goes on sale today, it won't be released in the US until February.

Meanwhile, Factor 5's dragon-'em-up Lair (which smacks a bit of Dynasty Warriors in our early build) is down as March, along with Heavenly Sword from UK-based Ninja Theory.

The good news, we suppose, being that those games could all wind up as European launch titles - if they stick to the proposed dates. Ha.

PS3 - Heavenly Sword - Gollum Star Talks Heavenly Sword Heavenly Sword is so beautiful it'd make Bond ditch his girl. Click through to a gameplay video and you can be darn sure you'll be scratching your head for hours afterwards trying to work out if you just saw FMV or in-game footage. But Ninja Theory has been keeping the game so close to its chests for so long that we're fairly sketchy on just what's going on beneath the surface.
