The drivers happily revved their engines for the assembled crowd. GRID's Executive Producer has spoken on the Codemasters forums regarding the PS3 version, and the improvements we can expect next week compared to the recent demo version.

The first improvement is that each and every frame is now v-synced, for a rock solid display with no tearing. Secondly the PS3 frame rate is 30fps, 99% of the time, which is great news.

Thirdly, there was no 'lead' platform - each version of the game had dedicated teams to get the most out of each of them - and finally the retail PS3 version has some extra performance improvements since the demo as they were tuning the game right to the last minute. In addition, the developers also have some further improvements lined up in a patch that should be out soon after release.

VG247: Codemasters confirmed this morning that the DS version of Race Driver GRID has been pushed into June, but that the release of the PC, PS3 and 360 versions is unaffected.

Eurogamer reports that Codemasters has unveiled Race Driver: GRID's multiplayer features and revealed that the game - due out on PS3, 360 and PC on 30th May - features full damage modelling.

GRID features 32 online race events taking in 80 circuits overall, with support for 12 players online and a ranking system that rewards skill and persistence.

Players will be rewarded with points for winning and beating better-ranked opponents, among other things, graduating from Junior Rookie to Legend as they amass points.

Gametrailers staff wrote: "When we capture video from games, we capture them to tapes, the tapes are then labeled and given to the video editors to cut into videos, for instance, a ps3/360 comparison video.

Two things went wrong this time. A) the tape was mislabeled as 360 footage so the editor thought he was comparing different things, and B) our editorial check on the video didn't go through the usual rigors, and failed to notice the mistake. When people check hundreds of videos a day, sometimes things slip through.

Obviously this is a huge issue, and we took it down as soon as we found out about it.

Never attribute to malice what you can instead attribute to a mistake. This was a simple oversight, and then spun by Kotaku into some sort of evil empire stunt.

Codemasters has announced the immediate availability of a Race Driver: GRID playable demo for Xbox 360, with the PS3 demo set to go live later today.

The demo features a selection of race events to try out, including racing a Ford Mustang GT-R on the streets of San Francisco in the eBay Motors Muscle Cup, taking control of a Nissan S15 Silvia in the Advan Drift Trophy at Yokohama Docks, and getting behind the wheel of a BMW 320si touring car around the hairpins of the Jarama circuit in Spain.

The demo also features 12-player online support for competitions at the European and US locations.

Most exciting though is the Pan-European Fastest Lap Challenge which is offering players the chance to win a BMW 3-Series. To participate, players must submit their fastest European Time Trial lap time on the Jarama track.
