At a recent PSN event, IGN was able to talk to the producers of Gran Turismo 5 Prologue about their upcoming title and get a few more details on the anticipated racer." While IGN has known for a while that the Blu-ray version of the game would exclusively have the Beyond the Apex feature, we were told that the disc version of the game would also have a lot more cinematics included, such as video course guides of the real-life tracks, as well as the opening and ending movie. Many of these elements won't be included within the initial download of the game from the PSN, although we were told that some of these items would eventually find their way onto Gran Turismo TV, the racing specific channel that will be included within the game."

The final of the nationwide GT5P competition took place last night in London's Marble Arch, and the winner, Three Speech is happy to say, was one of own Three Speech users, Drew Forster from the HMV Edinburgh heat (PSN moniker Bicycle Shorts, if you fancy a race). Second place went to Gavin Dempster with Christian Chapman coming in a very respectable third.

On winning Drew said, "It was fantastic. We get to go to Le Mans as the prize, though I might give this to my mum and dad. In the race itself we were all very close, doing 2.5 minute and 2.6 minute laps; and then in the final race I got two minutes dead, which was fast enough to win it!"

"I wasn't that bothered about winning until we were in the pod and then I felt it. I met the other guys, who are all really sound, so it was kind of a shame we had to compete, but it was good fun." Nice chap."

Reuters writes: "A national competition, a selection of real super cars and a mocked up "pit lane" in London greeted the European preview of Sony PlayStation's newest version of race driving videogame Gran Turismo this week.

Red Ferraris, a yellow Lotus convertible and the newly unveiled Nissan GT-R were some of the 17 cars assembled in an underground car park in central London decorated to look like a pit lane and packed with gamers, models, a bar with staff dressed as pit crew and a DJ pumping out music.

Guests were invited to test out the latest version of the game in four arcade-style "cars" at the Thursday evening event."

VG247's reporting a rumour that says SCEE's going to release GT5: Prologue on the European PSN between 3pm and 6pm GMT today.

The game was supposed to launch yesterday on the download service but has been held up due to "technical difficulties".

Sony has told Eurogamer that "last minute technical difficulties" are to blame for the absence of yesterday's expected PlayStation Store update.

"Unfortunately due to some last minute technical difficulties, we were unable to publish the new content to the PS Store yesterday," Sony told Eurogamer just now.

"We are working to resolve these issues and will let you know as soon as new content is posted."

Eurogamer writes: "Gran Turismo 5 Prologue appears to have missed its March 27th PlayStation Network launch date, with the game unavailable from Sony's PAL store at the time of writing.

Speculation grew as the day wore on with no new files that Sony was holding off until it was possible to include the new Grand Theft Auto IV trailer - the embargo on that was 10pm - but as the hour came and went still the storefront remained unchanged.

In fact, a big fat nothing has gone up on PSN overnight, despite us staying up until our eyes bled, and Sony hasn't said anything to the press yet, or on the European PS3 forums, where people are not very impressed."

Gran Turismo 5 Prologue is now available in some european countries in the Blu-ray version. And there's already an update that you need to install if you want to play online. The problem is the servers are probably overloaded and downloading this update is almost impossible.

Got the Japanese version of GT 5 Prologue and are feeling left out at all the new goodness coming on the Western versions of the game? Well, don't - the Japanese version is getting an update to 'Spec II', this Friday at around Noon. To update, select News from the My Page, and then press the PS button.

Note that after updating, you'll lose your replays and the event data will be cleared although you'll keep all your credits and cars and any cleared events up to A class, so you won't need to do those again.
