Now we all know that Final Fantasy XIII will be released on March 9th, but it's not the only title that will hit store shelves in said month. And especially on the PS3 there are big hitters all looking for room on the same plane. Gran Turismo 5, God of War III, Heavy Rain in February, and as stated, Final Fantasy XIII. March is overbooked and the best solution is for Sony to push back two big games, namely GT5 and God of War III into the months of April and May of next year respectively if they want all their big hitters to sell well. Here's why.

"God of War III is set to ship next year (March 31, 2010), but the $99 Ultimate Edition has been defying the recession and making waves in 2009.

Since it's announcement last week, it has consistently been in the top 10 PS3 sellers list over at Amazon.

In addition, it has been reportedly selling very well at Gamestop due to the God of War III E3 Demo Code Offer available on online or in-store pre-orders.

The Ultimate Edition will feature the following:"

A select few(including yours truly) got to go hands on with God of War III over the weekend, as Sony released the highly publicized E3 demo in limited quantities. Fresh off the hype of the demo, God of War III's lead gameplay animator Bruno Velazquez answered some fan questions, and we've picked out some of the more interesting tidbits.

The US will get access to the God of War 3 demo when they purchase the Blu-ray release of District 9, but what about the UK? Well Sony has told us that this is for the US only, but it will announce plans for the GOW 3 demo in the UK soon.

"That's for the US only. We'll announce our plans for the GOW 3 demo in due course." said a spokesperson.

According to an article from GameInformer.com, the District 9 Blu-ray movie will include a playable demo of God of War III. The District 9 Blu-ray won't be released until December 29, 2009, so it's a bit of a longer wait for the God of War III demo than when the demo on the God of War Collection will be released. What's different from the God of War Collection's included demo is that the District 9 Blu-ray will include the God of War III demo on the disc itself, rather than having to download it. GameInformer.com also noted that a behind-the-scenes of the making of God of War 3 will also be viewable, once you complete the demo.
Not a lot of action games would take very well to the first person shooter (FPS) style of controls and perspective but as SCEA Art Director Ken Feldman revealed, he sure wished God of War III could have done it."

The latest issue of Famitsu magazine confirms that God of War III will also be releasing in Japan in March 2010. For the first time, Sony will be publishing the title in Japan as well, after Capcom published the previous entries into the franchise. With Japan and North America confirmed for a March 2010 release, it would seem that Sony is indeed aiming for a simultaneous worldwide release of the title.
Not to forget powerful, though in less of a Bruce Banner way. With a strong focus on the moon pale Ghost of Sparta, the God of War series has also carried a strong pedigree of stellar voice acting. Be it the douche bag Zeus or the noble Athena, each and every leading character has been backed by as capable a voice actor. And it looks Sony's mega opus God of War III is getting three more."

The fans spoke and we listened.
For those that recall the God of War survey conducted earlier this year, an overwhelming amount of the community suggested the PlayStation 2 experiences of Kratos be brought forth to the PlayStation 3.

Thanks to your feedback, we are excited to announce the God of War Collection for this Holiday Season. Now fans and newcomers to the series can experience the epic journey of God of War and God of War II in 720p HD form. Both titles have been remastered with anti-aliased graphics, running at 60 frames per second for a smooth gameplay experience, only on the PS3 system. Additionally, the Blu-ray Disc compilation will bring the PlayStation Network (PSN) trophy support to the franchise for the very first time.

This is your chance to experience God of War is its true form before the chaos of God of War III hits store shelves come March 2010.

Late last night, the ESRB forced the removal of several gruesome God of War III trailers and replaced them with censored versions. Two of the more notorious scenes shown thus far from the game, one where Kratos rips the eye out of a cyclops and one where Kratos tears the head of Helios from his body, were blocked out by a big 'censored by the ESRB' logo. The two scenes both showed detailed flesh tearing and gore.

We´ve all seen the E3 2009 footage of God of War III and you´d be a nut-case to say you were unimpressed. Everything about this game screams success; the graphics, audio, the intense action, but there is still one question that remains unanswered. Although it is widely speculated, no official sources have actually confirmed that the game is rendered at 1080p. After all, Sony did promise us native 1080p@60FPS gaming from launch, but we are still waiting. Several sites have listed God of War III to be among one of the few titles that is in fact 1080p native. Will be interesting to see whether or not there is any truth to this, considering that a vast majority of 1080p games are arcade ones. No game of this caliber has been rendered at a resolution higher than 720p on console previously.

Developed exclusively for the Playstation3 system, God of War III is the final installment of the multi-million unit-selling trilogy. Developed by Sony Computer Entertainment's Santa Monica Studios, God of War III will bring epic battles to life with stunning graphics and an elaborate plot that puts Kratos at the center of carnage and destruction as he seeks revenge against the Gods who have betrayed him.

Set in the realm of brutal Greek mythology, God of War III is a single-player game that allows players to take on the climatic role of the ex-Spartan warrior, Kratos, as he scales through the intimidating heights of Mt. Olympus and the dark depths of Hell to seek revenge on those who have betrayed him. Armed with double-chained blades, and an array of new weapons and magic for this iteration of the trilogy, Kratos must take on mythology's darkest creatures while solving intricate puzzles throughout his merciless quest to destroy Olympus.

Contrary to what you might think, E3 isn’t all brilliant new games, booth babes and free beer. A lot of the time the biggest, best and most exciting games event on the planet is actually as dull and hope-dashing as a Sony graph-led press conference. We've been trying to get a handle on the plethora of PlayStation games that will be on display from June 2 through June 4, and it's quite astounding. If you weren't excited about the prospect of new announcements for the PlayStation brand, what if we told you there will be over 75 unique PlayStation games on display - that we know about?! While many are multiplatform titles (though the best still appear to be Sony-exclusive), it is a large increase from last year's showing."

Sony surveyed potential God of War III fans this week about what they'd like to see in a collector's edition for the PlayStation 3 sequel, including repackaging the first two games on Blu-ray.

That would almost certainly indicate that PlayStation 2 games would be playable on the PlayStation 3, a backwards compatibility option that the most recent PS3 configurations don't offer. And that would be just about the greatest thing since in-game text chat to hit the console.

Not so fast, Sony Computer Entertainment reps say. The console maker is not announcing updated PS2 support just yet.

The news that Shadow of the Colossus is being turned into a movie – penned by the scribe behind Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li – has made us inconsolable. With the translation from hell about to mangle Sony’s ethereal adventure beyond recognition, all bets are off over what Hollywood’s going to do with videogame properties next. In fact, we’re completely convinced some cynical suits are about to turn our ...
