I don't know how this has seemed to pass under the radar (I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere), but X-Play will be showing off a live demo of God of War III tonight.
Badassgamer: "Yes, you read the title right, this post is here to show people just how much progress the people behind our favourite Ghost of Sparta have made since the PS2 era. The images you will see below are what I would describe as CGI-quality character models."
Mike Hartnett at Tawkn.com writes: "In a rather odd move, Sony has gone ahead and significantly cut down the final part of their E3 press conference which is currently available in the PS Store."
Badassgamer: "By now, we've all seen the insanely gory scene were Kratos gets his deadly hands on the head of Helios, and in the process of tussling and pulling at the thing, it gets ripped off - with blood, dangling flesh and torn veins to boot! Yes the scene is brutal, it's bloody...but it's God of War, I'm surprised..."
Official Playstation Blog:
Here are a few pieces of info to tide you over:
We´ve all seen the E3 2009 footage of God of War III and you´d be a nut-case to say you were unimpressed. Everything about this game screams success; the graphics, audio, the intense action, but there is still one question that remains unanswered. Although it is widely speculated, no official sources have actually confirmed that the game is rendered at 1080p. After all, Sony did promise us native 1080p@60FPS gaming from launch, but we are still waiting. Several sites have listed God of War III to be among one of the few titles that is in fact 1080p native. Will be interesting to see whether or not there is any truth to this, considering that a vast majority of 1080p games are arcade ones. No game of this caliber has been rendered at a resolution higher than 720p on console previously.
Developed exclusively for the Playstation3 system, God of War III is the final installment of the multi-million unit-selling trilogy. Developed by Sony Computer Entertainment's Santa Monica Studios, God of War III will bring epic battles to life with stunning graphics and an elaborate plot that puts Kratos at the center of carnage and destruction as he seeks revenge against the Gods who have betrayed him.
Multiplatform:
PerezStart writes: It's coming March 2010, so this years release is false. From E3, We may have seen the last of God of War, with this being the last in the series.
Treat this as a Rumor right now, but if USA Today has access to info we don't then this is great news.
Variety: Hope "God of War 3" isn't on your holiday wish list. Despite widespread assumptions that the game is due this year, word now is that it has been pushed to 2010 (as has the next "Gran Turismo"). We may get official confirmation of this tomorrow at Sony's press conference.
The July issue of PlayStation: The Official Magazine (PTOM) features God of War 3 on its cover, and inside includes the first new info. on the game since Sony unveiled it back in February.
Badassgamer: "The recently released screens and mag scans that set 't3h internetz' ablaze are indeed from an older build of the game, the same build shown to the press way back."
Ben Dutka for PSXextreme.com writes: Thanks to an inside tip, it seems the God of War III release date may be earlier than expected...might this mega-huge title launch in January?
CriousGamer Writes...There has been rumours that Sony's plan for E3 2009 includes a God OF War 3 demo & a New Firmware update that will bring along the 3D Games/Movies which is currently in development by Next3D.
PlayStation LifeStyle writes, "In just over a week, PlayStation LifeStyle will be reporting live from the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). We've been trying to get a handle on the plethora of PlayStation games that will be on display from June 2 through June 4, and it's quite astounding. If you weren't excited about the prospect of new announcements for the PlayStation brand, what if we told you there will be over 75 unique PlayStation games on display - that we know about?! While many are multiplatform titles (though the best still appear to be Sony-exclusive), it is a large increase from last year's showing."
Badassgamer: " Current signs are pointing to a possible 2009 release for the much anticipated God of War III, now I am not saying a 2009 release for God of War III is what I want, I would like the game to be released when Santa Monica and Sony are happy with it, I want it released when it is finished and soaking in awesome! however here are some signs that could point to a release later this year."
