I don't know how this has seemed to pass under the radar (I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere), but X-Play will be showing off a live demo of God of War III tonight.

In an announcement posted yesterday on g4tv.com, it was revealed that game director Stig Asmussen will be showing off the game with over 20 minutes of gameplay footage on XPlay Thursday June 18th. Read inside for more details.

First of all, the environments will be "up to 4 times larger than those found in God of War II," which immediately sounds enticing to the nth degree.
Secondly, and you may have heard this already, but Kratos will be able to climb atop Titans and ravage the earth from above; these controllable behemoths can be the size of the "Empire State Building." Thirdly, "thousands of dynamic lights and textures with quadruple the resolution...allows for realistic muscle striations, detailed facial expressions, and new heightened levels of brutality and gore." We´ve all seen the E3 2009 footage of God of War III and you´d be a nut-case to say you were unimpressed. Everything about this game screams success; the graphics, audio, the intense action, but there is still one question that remains unanswered. Although it is widely speculated, no official sources have actually confirmed that the game is rendered at 1080p. After all, Sony did promise us native 1080p@60FPS gaming from launch, but we are still waiting. Several sites have listed God of War III to be among one of the few titles that is in fact 1080p native. Will be interesting to see whether or not there is any truth to this, considering that a vast majority of 1080p games are arcade ones. No game of this caliber has been rendered at a resolution higher than 720p on console previously.

Variety: Hope "God of War 3" isn't on your holiday wish list. Despite widespread assumptions that the game is due this year, word now is that it has been pushed to 2010 (as has the next "Gran Turismo"). We may get official confirmation of this tomorrow at Sony's press conference.
