Burst Limit is both beautiful and faithful to the anime, even to the point of creating drawn-out battles with epic finishing moves that don't actually finish the fight. It might even be possible to recreate the infamous "last five minutes of Namek" from the show...

Maybe it was constantly delayed, but this perfect rendition of ultimate street fighting was worth the wait and then some.

With nary a problem to be found, Street Fighter IV is the definition of perfection within the genre. New characters fit in perfectly with those of old and there is oh so much depth to this brawlfest of a game. Not to mention the art style is magnificent.

You may have to pull some cheap tricks to become king of the jungle, but the biggest challenge you'll face is finding one good joke in this self-proclaimed "humorous" game.

Soulcalibur IV

Sure, the Star Wars characters don't really belong here, but nonsense is the order of the day in Soulcalibur IV, and the game's better for it. New fighting mechanics, and a finely balanced roster round out the hugely satisfying package here. Forget the Virtua Fighter purists. This is the new king of fighters.

Tekken 6 reveals its thrills and spills far more readily than its nearest 3D competitor, Virtua Fighter 5, but ultimately it’s a shallower experience. It shows reluctance to move with the times, but it still offers a massive amount of characters and combos to master, and will surely keep hardcore fighting fans busy for a long time.
