Valentine's Day is around the corner, and SOE is celebrating with activities and events in a handful of its games.
Sony Online Entertainment LLC (SOE) has today announced that Free Realms, the popular free-to-play, family-friendly virtual world game, is now available as a free download on the PlayStation Network in Europe. Free Realms originally launched in 2009 for the PC and in 2010 for the MAC computer, and has quickly grown into an online community of more than seventeen million registered players.

That hasn't escaped the attention of some people, including some who have deep pockets. Over the last month college students around the nation have shared stories about their summer internships with their classmates. Only one of those students was a recipient of the G.I.R.L. Scholarship.

<br /> Alicia Crawford won this year's Gamers In Real Life Scholarship, a program run by Sony Online Entertainment and dedicated to increasing the role of women in the video game industry. The scholarship includes $10,000 for tuition and a ten-week paid internship with Sony Online Entertainment. Crawford spent this summer in San Diego working on art assets for the MMO Free Realms.
PS3 Attitude says: Today at E3, Sony Online Entertainment told us that Free Realms will be releasing in the EU soon. They were unwilling to give us an exact release date but did stress the word soon. So very vague, sure, but at least soon is sooner than later...
As part of Sony Online Entertainments (SOE) restoration of services, the publisher is demanding that all registered members reset their password upon logging into any area of the network for the first time, just as is the case with the PlayStation Network restoration process. The Station Service is once again available for account holders to log in and update their personal information, though game servers remain offline currently.

Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) president John Smedley is confident that Free Realms, its free-to-play child-friendly MMOG that launched on PS3 download service PlayStation Network last week, will reach 100 million users. First launched for PC in 2009, with a Mac release the following year, Free Realms recently hit 17 million users, but Smedley expects that number to grow dramatically over time.
