Coming up in an interview published later today, Strategy Informer interrogates a Red Faction sympathiser over at Volition Inc. Associate Producer Sean Kennedy tells them why Red Faction Guerrilla wasn't possible until now, how Geo-Mod 2.0 tech is three to five years ahead, and his thoughts on terrain game Fracture... Asked if the new Red Faction has moved away from terraforming terrain because of recent titles like LucasArts' Fracture, Kennedy laughs. Ha, Fracture! You can actually put that in your article! Volition isn't so insecure, it seems it was time for a change in the franchise anyway.

While the 360 version of the divisive game has a full compliment of Achievements, there are no Trophies in the PS3 version. Executive producer Shara Miller explained to VideoGamer.com that adding Trophy support retroactively was something we've explored but right now it doesn't seem feasible. Miller described the lack of Trophy support in the PS3 version as a real bummer, and laid the blame on weird timing. There are no Trophies in the game, she said. There was just a weird timing with when Trophies, when the technology was released, versus when we were already sort of passed that point. It was a real bummer.

Executive producer Shara Miller, who works for publisher LucasArts, defended developer Day 1 Studios and said they took a risk and that they did some great stuff with it. Any time you do something new there are going to be some people who absolutely love it and applaud you for it and then there are going to be people who say that it's not enough. I feel very proud of Day 1 for what they've done with this. I've played through it a million times; I still have a great time. I really do think it's a very cool new mechanic. I've seen people respond in a great way to that. And so I think there's a lot for people to really love about this game. Any time you try something new it's going to be a little bit controversial. You have to take a risk. I really think that they took a risk and that they did some great stuff with it.

Opinions are divided about the game, but I still hold firm on the idea that it's in multiplayer that the unique features will shine, and it sounds like others are agreeing. In fact, those that don't mention multiplayer are the ones panning the game.

Did anyone else think that the Fracture demo wasn't as abysmal as you were expecting? Sure, it was the epitome of mediocre third-person action with a gimmick attached, but at times it was almost fun. Well the full game is out this week in both the US and Europe and, unless you're a European lego fan with vigilante tendencies, that's pretty much it. Oh, except for basketball. Lots of basketball. Here's the full release list: US Games * Fracture * NBA 2K9 * NBA Live 2009 * NBA 09: The Inside EU Games * Lego Batman * Fracture * NBA 2K9 * NBA Live 09 Asian Games * NBA 09: The Inside * NBA Live 09 * Guitar Hero III * Guitar Hero Aerosmith
