Sony had a five year deal to produce the official F1 game. The license fee was $15 million per year and the deal ran out with the 2007 version. Here's why it hasn't been renewed.

Formula 1 CE is the greatest F1 game ever, but one detail made it unplayable with a wheel: the lack of force feedback.

Finally Sony updated the game and gave it force feedback support! Driving simulator fans must get this game now, it's awesome like it should have been since day 1. Better late than never.

To update just connect to the internet and run the game.
Apparently, Formula One Championship Edition is the closest youll get to the real thing without being speared through the guts by the nose of a 200mph Ferrari. Formula One, you see, has been dying at an inversely proportional rate to the success of one Michael Schumacher - the more he won, the more people got bored and stopped watching.

So in order to make Championship Edition more exciting than watching the Antiques Roadshow on valium, youll want to head straight over to the options section ...
Sony Computer Entertainment Australia (SCEA) has now confirmed five of its titles will be there from the PS3's first day of sale, bringing the expected number of launch games to 17.

In a statement, SCEA confirmed Formula One Championship Edition, MotorStorm, Genji: Days of the Blade, Resistance: Fall of Man and Ridge Racer 7 would all be PS3 launch titles in Australia. No further details--such as a more specific launch date for the new console--were mentioned.

The Sony games join an expanding list of expected launch titles from other publishers, including Virtua Fighter 5 from Sega and Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 from Ubisoft. The current list of Australian PS3 launch titles--gathered from each publisher's latest release schedules--is provided below.

You might remember last week we spent a long time playing MotorStorm and crashing a lot. It was kind of therapeutic. With no pressure to actually win anything, we just drove head first into boulders and entered a catatonic daze as our vehicle elegantly disintegrated before our glazed-over eyes.

With import copies of PS3's Formula 1: Championship Edition arriving in the GamesRadar office, an elevated level of high-speed collision has become our new object of desire. It's simple really, F1 cars ...

Today some new ratings from the newest edition of the famous Japanese gamesmagazine Famitsu. Most remarkable is the review of Prey, that has been in stores for some time in U.S. and Europe now, but is new in Japan.

The game achieves high scores, with three times a eight and even one nine, having a total score of 33/40. (Famitsu always reviews with 4 different people) Do you still understand the people over there?

The full list with all rates:

Pokemon Battle Revolution (Wii, Nintendo): 9 / 9 / 8 / 9 - (35/40)
Armored Core 4 (PS3, From Software): 9 / 7 / 7 / 8 - (31/40)
HimeHibi: Princess Days (PS2, Takuyo): 7 / 6 / 6 / 7 - (26/40)
Yumemishi (PS2, Princess Soft): 7 / 8 / 7 / 7 - (29/40)
Formula One Championship (PS2, Sony): 8 / 8 / 7 / 8 - (31/40)
Simple 2000 Series Vol. 112: The Tousou Highway 2: Road Warrior 2050 (PS2, D3): 6 / 6 / 5 / 6 - (23/40)
Prey (Xbox 360, Spike): 9 / 8 / 8 / 8 - (33/40)
Formula One 2006 Portable (PSP, Sony): 7 / 7 / 7 / 7 - (28/40)
Gamics Vol. 1: Yokoyama Mitsuteru San Goku Shi: Dai 1 Kan - Touen no Chikai (NDS, ASNetworks): 8 / 7 / 5 / 7 - (27/40)
Formula One games are generally lumped with curling and rugby as "foreign junk." But if it looked as good as F1 Championship Edition did at a recent Sony event, we'd even gladly play "Tea-Time Simulator." Sony's Liverpool studio is putting in extended hours in the garage to fine-tune F1 to make it a premiere racer for the PlayStation 3.

This game looks like butta'. Replays are always spiffy, but F1 kicks things up a notch with near photo-realism. We're not sure how many polygons make up each ...
For Formula One fans, there can be no better news than this latest batch of images from Formula One 06 for PS3 - it's officially licensed up the exhaust-wazoo, it looks sharp as knives and will no doubt be faster than lightning. Although it might not be called '06' when it launches over here in March 2007.

But no matter. Point your eyes down and enjoy these new screens. There's Jenson Button's helmet to gawp at, a full-frontal shot of Kimi Raikkonen's sleek vehicle and a lot of other things so ...

Sony has launched the PS3 online service, with access to the PlayStation Store where consumers can download the first batch of playable demos.
The service, Sony's equivalent to Microsoft's Xbox Live and Marketplace, can be accessed for free, and lets new PS3 owners set friends lists and send messages, as well as create an avatar.
A number of playable demos are available, including Resistance: Fall of Man, Motorstorm, NBA 07 and Formula One Championship Edition. Two full games are also available for US$ 7.99 (EUR 6.25), Cash Guns Chaos and Blast Factor...
PlayStation 3's Formula One 06 doesn't so much emphasize realism - it's obsessed with it. And not just visually, either. This set of new images looks amazing, but it's the gameplay touches that invoke the real Formula One atmosphere, from the fully licensed teams and tracks to the newly introduced rules for the 2006 season. There will even be a "parade" lap at the start of each race to warm up your tires, just like real-world F1 meetings.

Formula One is not yet scheduled for release in the US ...

Railfan (Ongakukan)

Devil May Cry 4 (Capcom)

Fatal Inertia (Koei)

Blade Storm (Koei)

Mahjong Taikai IV (Koei)

Coded Arms Assault (Konami Digital Entertainment)

Genji (SCEJ)

Formula One World Championship (SCEJ)

Heavenly Sword (SCEJ)

Lair (SCEJ)

MotorStorm (SCEJ)

Resistance Fall of Man (SCEJ)

The Eye of Judgment (SCEJ)

Warhawk (SCEJ)

Gran Turismo Series (SCEJ)

Minna no Golf 5 (aka Hot Shots Golf, SCEJ)

Ridge Racer (Bandai Namco Games)

Gundam Target in Sight (Bandai Namco Games)

Armored Core 4 (From Software)

All but the first game were previously announced. Given its publisher (and title), the first game is likely a train simulation game of some form.

The remaining 8 titles are currently a mystery, so we encourage wild speculation.

Sony will also have a theater in its booth which will show video footage of a total of 35 titles. We presume there will be some overlap with the playable titles and the video-only titles, but Sony wasn't clear about the matter.
