Sep 24, 2007 Joe Booth, FIFA 08 (PS3, Xbox 360) Lead Producer The evolution of our new Be A Pro feature comes from two things. First, we felt that the experience of playing FIFA 08 – both the view point and playing as the whole team – hasnt really changed since we went to 3D. At the same time there is this desire from our gamers to go to an 11 vs 11 online experience. These two things inspired us to begin experimenting with a new way to play FIFA 08. In FIFA 08 on PS3 and Xbox 360 ... » Read More

Sept 18, 2007 Ronaldinho, Barcelona's super-star, has been drafted in to show off FIFA 08s Be A Pro mode, which will be just one of the game modes that'll be on offer when the title hits PS3 and 360 on 28 September. Playing in this mode locks you into the role of a single player as you and your team try to battle your way to the top of the league. And thats not all. EA has managed to include online play in this mode, with the ability to support up to five individual players on each team. Its ... » Read More

PS3 - FIFA 08 - FIFA 08 demo tomorrow EA has confirmed that the demo for FIFA 08 will go live on 360 and PS3 tomorrow.

It'll give you a chance to try out what the publisher is calling its most coherent football game to date. There's the new skill system to try out, the opportunity to play as just one member of the team and not mess it up, plus the usual better graphics, physics, and all that malarkey.

Sept 7, 2007 Look at David Beckham showing off his rippling clothes and acutely replicated facial detail afforded by the power of PS3 and Xbox 360 in FIFA 08. It all looks very nice, doesn't it? Even if the shots don't look like they were taken from the in-game engine, but you get the idea. FIFA 08 isn't all about visuals this time round, because as well as a host of new options and refreshed gameplay physics, EA recently confirmed that it's slapping 10-player online play into this beauty as ... » Read More

Sept 07 2007 US football - sorry, soccer - teams don't usually carry much weight this side of the pond. But these new FIFA '08 screens caught our eye because, as well as being further testament to the game's graphical prowess, they all feature ex-England golden boy David Beckham. He may not be up there with Ronaldinho anymore, but we reckon he'll be choice du jour for the all-new Be A Pro mode. Leading a largely otherwise unknown squad to victory with an old hand has a certain amount of kudos ... » Read More

September 3, 2007 Joe Booth, FIFA 08 (PS3, Xbox 360), Lead Producer Today I have asked gameplay designer and software engineer, Gary Paterson, to speak in the diary. When hes not following Aberdeen, celebrating Scotlands World Cup Win (the homeless World Cup that is), finding the latest Leeds United negative story to rub in my face, or reliving every detail of Scotlands one win over England, Gary is busy tweaking the shooting and the details of our game engine. Seriously, Gary is going to give ... » Read More

Aug 22, 2007 FIFA 08 is getting a 10-player online mode as a downloadable extra on Xbox 360 and PS3. Great news, certainly, but it's come as quite a surprise to us at GR. You see, EA's 'Be a Pro' and 'Be a Pro Co-op' modes are so new, even EA developers we spoke to recently reckoned that the mode would be 2 v 2 for the year's sports titles, before being taken to its logical conclusion of 11 v 11 at some point in the series' future. But it seems that the full-team ideal is closer than we ... » Read More

Aug 15, 2007 Since the debut of FIFA International Soccer in 1993 each new version of EA's officially licensed soccer series has always delivered something fresh to the playing field - from the introduction of club teams (FIFA Soccer '95) and real player names (FIFA Soccer '96), through to power bars for shots (FIFA Soccer 2002) and the ability to control a second player "off the ball" (FIFA Soccer 2004). Keeping with tradition, the upcoming FIFA 08 packs in a host of changes that promise to ... » Read More
