We can’t help ourselves, sometimes we just have to write articles based on the semi-amusing headlines that go with them. It’s no worse than, say, the premise of a crappy SNL skit with no punch line (like all of them… zing!), and you’d probably much rather be reading this than listening to your family argue about the proper way to cook a turkey
Holiday cards really don’t know anything about video games. Oh, don’t get us wrong – we support images of cheerful fat men in bright clothes, manger scenes, or even polar bears guzzling soft drinks. But none of that stuff says “gamer”. So, we got the GR brain trust together, knocked back far too many shots of eggnog, and knocked together these custom crafted beauties. Print ‘em up, send ‘em out, and remind your loved ones that you may wish them well, but if you see them online playing Modern Warfare 2, it’s headshot time
Rocksteady Games created a monster in Batman: Arkham Asylum, and senior gameplay programmer Paul Denning is so proud of their game spawn that he just couldn’t stop talking to us about it. He spilled so many truth nuggets from his talented maw that we had to split the interview into two parts. Here’s the second bit, complete with all sorts of interesting information about Batman’s return to the dance floor, how he nearly had the power to command motorboats, and even a story about how a big film company didn’t interfere with the game development process to a significant degree
If the cliche for this time of year is “it’s better to give than to receive”, then game developers have always been flush with the spirit of the season. Christmas is, after all, the time when consumers flock in droves to malls, game stores and DLC servers, flooding developers’ coffers with holiday lucre.

TellWay back in January, we did what a lot of other tech and gaming websites do, and published a list of predictions for the then-new year. In this case, we predicted the games that we thought – for a variety of reasons – wouldn’t see the light of day until at least 2010, and published it under the somewhat inflammatory headline No Heavy Rain until 2010?
Infinity Ward doesn’t do things by halves, and they’ve made the most varied, challenging and replayable co-op mode since forever with Spec Ops. It consists of 23 missions over five different stages, with one to three stars awarded for each depending on difficulty level (one for regular, two for hardened, three for veteran).
With the release of BioShock 2 just weeks away, you can ease your deep-sea blue balls by submerging yourself in these four new videos. From familiar faces to new nemeses, this updated Rapture will have you partying like it’s 1969. The Splicers are still scary, but the twitchy Big Sister is even scarier and the writing on the walls won’t ease your fears, either
Christmas is nearly here, and we can’t wait for it to be over. After spending over an hour in line with a stressed out mother struggling to wrestle candy from her brood of bratty toddlers, we desperately wanted to punch her screaming cubs in the face. But it’s not just the crowds and children that we hate. We have plenty leftover for all the gaudy lights, too. How wasteful!
