Gamervision reports: "Apparently, and this is absolutely a rumor, PlayStation Network title Fat Princess has been delayed indefinitely in Japan. Word is that it was outright banned by the government because of the character design. No, it isn't because of the game's portrayal of women, but because of its portrayal of... hands. Characters in Fat Princess only have four fingers, which apparently rubs some in Japan the wrong way enough to keep the game off digital shelves entirely."
Fat Princess, like Team Fortress 2, hits the hilarity-gore ratio perfectly. It's nowhere near offensive, but overblown enough that it could be seen as gratuitous, yet usually ends up as funny.

Some people apparently don't take kindly to adorable little cherub-like warriors blowing each other to bits, and blood pooling underneath them. For those folks, you can always turn gore off (and have always been able to), and enjoy your bloodless, boring game. Thankfully, Titan has an alternative, one that includes party favors!"
You have given PS Blog a ton of very valuable information which has helped them to track down the majority of the connection issues.

PS Blog is happy to announce that they're releasing a patch , Friday August 7, to help fix some of these connection issues. This will be released for N. America region, with patches for Europe and Asia to follow as soon as possible.
they're also going to be tweaking some of the point balances and classes based on fan feedback. Several of you have also been asking about the player ranks.
"Fat Princess was released for the PlayStation Network last week, and was met with mixed reviews. While almost all critics agreed that the gameplay is fun and entertaining, the server and connection issues plagued the experience. Recently it was announced that a patch to fix the current issues is on its way. And on top of that the developers posted a detailed FAQ that addresses many of the questions that the community has asked."

IGN:

Although Titan wrote that it "will likely introduce changes in a future patch" to the system seeing as how so many people have written in about it, for now, the system averages your score for the last 10 games and assigns you a rank based on that score.

The breakdown is as follows:

* Squire – 500-599
* Private – 600-699
* Corporal – 700-799
* Sergeant – 800-899
* Ensign – 900-999
* Lieutenant – 1000-1249
* Captain – 1250-1499
* General – 1500-1749
* Warlord – 1750-1999
* Sir (Dame) – 2000-2249
* Baron (Baroness) – 2250-2499
* Earl (Countess) -2500-2999
* Duke (Duchess) – 3000-3499
* Lord (Lady) – 3500-3999
* Prince (Princess) – 4000-4499
* King (Queen) – 4500+

Fat Princess hit the PSN late last week and, as most online games seemingly come across, has had some connectivity issues. Titan Studios announced over the weekend that a patch would be forthcoming, and now it seems the patch has been completed and is in the process of being tested. The patch will fix:

* Failed Game Connections
* Lag
* Hosting Problems
* AoE Scoring Exploits
* Stalemates
* Missing Princess (on certain levels)
* Dead Hat Machines
* Scoreboard Issues (only top 1000 scores shown)
* Ranking System Problems
Many have reported the inability to connect online to games. Hopefully more information will be available about this in the near future.

"This week is lacking on confirmed content, but there is a nice amount of content being rumored to make up for it. The original PSOne Classic Metal Gear Solid sneaks onto this week's update, and it is rumored that Solid Snake will be bringing another PSOne classic along with him. The update will be extra heavy if Fat Princess shows up. Look for your normal round up of DLC, and the possibility of a couple demos."
We've been trying to get a handle on the plethora of PlayStation games that will be on display from June 2 through June 4, and it's quite astounding. If you weren't excited about the prospect of new announcements for the PlayStation brand, what if we told you there will be over 75 unique PlayStation games on display - that we know about?! While many are multiplatform titles (though the best still appear to be Sony-exclusive), it is a large increase from last year's showing."

"We realize that New Zealand is like, a bajillion miles away, but we thought we'd bring your attention to a Kiwi-bound PlayStation release schedule, which finally provides a firm release date for Titan Studios' upcoming PSN title, Fat Princess. According to the list, PS3 owners can begin strengthening soul-crushingly negative obesity stereotypes when the game drops June 18. We still don't know whether the States will see a simultaneous release, but it certainly fits nicely within our previously promised summer launch window."
This mode is more like the multiplayer gameplay you've seen before, but against AI bots.

The developers are aiming for a Summer release, with some final tweaks currently in the works. It's a bit later than the expected February release, but it should be worth the wait.

An anonymous source has told PSNow! that Fat Princess will be released this month on PlayStation Store, along with a demo and new trailer. No word on pricing yet, though.

Fat Princess was announced at E3 2008 in conjunction with other PlayStation Network titles such as Flower or Ratchet & Clank: Quest of Booty. Both games are already available, with Rag Doll Kung Fu releasing soon, so it's very likely to see Fat Princess on PlayStation Store in the near future.

PSNow! is known for discovering the Street Fighter costumes for LittleBigPlanet, as well as the Sackboy DLC for Hot Shots Golf back in December and that has been confirmed today by Sony.

Sony may be planning at least one more PSP to PlayStation 2 port, if a Q1 European release list is accurate. Do you best not to get too excited about the prospect, please.

Last year's Wipeout Pulse may be the latest to jump from the PSP's wee screen to whatever the PlayStation 2 may be connected to, as a Sony Computer Entertainment Europe - more precisely, the Benelux region - release list pegs the port for a February release in the region.

None too surprising, as previously PSP-only titles like Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters have made the transition.

The release date list also schedules the cutesy PlayStation Network strategy game Fat Princess for March. We'd suggest not penciling that one in quite yet, as your region's release date my vary. For the full, rumored release list, read on.
Among some of the revelations made by lead designer Craig Leigh was the launch window for the title - it has been narrowed down to spring 2009.

Many of you have been asking us "where is Fat Princess, oh darn it?" Well, looks like it's 2009. First unveiled at E3 this year, the downloadable title earned a lot of buzz (both positive and negative) for its cute, gory, cake-filled concept.

A press release from Epic Games China has officially "announced" the "opening" of Titan Studios, the developer of the upcoming game. There are a few things we're confused by. First, why is Epic Games China opening a studio in Seattle? Last we checked, Seattle wasn't a part of China (unless, that is, the takeover has begun ...). Also, why is the studio being announced now? Maybe that's why Fat Princess is taking so long to develop! The studio wasn't actually official yet!

Titan Studios brings to it developers with experience at companies including Ubisoft, Epic Games, Scion Studios, Blizzard Entertainment and Lionhead Studios. Titan Studios is not only working on Fat Princess, but a number of other Unreal Engine 3 games, including a massively multiplayer online game.

"Gamers clamoring for less fantastic female proportions can now look to the upcoming PSN title Fat Princess for inspiration. Okay, perhaps that's a bit far-fetched. However, this quirky little number looks to be a veritable multiplayer contender for PlayStation 3 owners.

Developed by Titan Studios, Fat Princess is a uniquely-styled multiplayer PSN title that combines elements of the popular Team Fortress with the micromanagement stylings of RTSs and top-down shooters. Neatly rolled into one little package, Fat Princess is a rousing game of Capture the Flag. Two teams will work to protect their "flags", which in this case are actually princesses. Yes, the title has everything to do with the gameplay, unlike certain songs with ambiguous titles. Capturing the princesses won't be so easy, however. They're overweight gluttons that can be fed slice after slice of cake to be made even bigger, therefore heavier to pick up and more difficult to transport."

More after the jump!
