I would have to say that the most impressive thing about the game would be the texturing and the detailed backgrounds, along with the human like movement of the player, its pretty obvious that they put a lot of work into the town and mountains and it really shows. Another thing i noticed that i thought was so sick was the way it translated from gameplay to cutscene without any interruptions. The flow was unbelievable i had a hard time telling if you were the ones rolling when the helicopter was shooting at you through the wall or if it was a planned scenario. Ive also noticed some problems, like for instance the cover system. While it looks great, look at 2:25 your head is clearly shown which makes me wonder about how effective this cover system is going to be. Another few things that i thought were awesome were when things break, i love when things blow up in games and i have to say that the crumbling building was one of the most impressive things id ever seen.
sorry for the paragraph but i think it all needed to be said. This game is going to be unreal.
the physics are brill, when the building is falling all of the furniture is sliding across the room and the player has to run back to stay up, and when it stops he falls really good.
I LOVE the whole verticality of it all. In Uncharted 1 it was all very "one level" of gameplay and when Uncharted 2 was announced to have muliplayer everyone freaked out and some said it wouldn't work. Those of the latter group are now looking pritty stupid. This has good frame rate considering the environments, the amount and type of the game modes I like are not the usual deathmatch and CTF (although they are there) there are others that ND have added. It graphically holds up well to its single-player counterpart. Oh, I just noticed this compo was for the single-player video. Ooops. Anyway, the base models don't look much better than DF but the work that has been done on this is absulutally fantastic. Also all the movement animations are improved so there is no more "I'm-gonna-move-but-now-I'm-not-but-I'll-do-a-bit-of-running-on-the-spot-anyway". The voice acting seems less forced than the original. I LOVED the original and hope the 2nd is just as good. Rock on, Nate!
I loved the part where the building is slowly crashing around him and Chloe. You see the building rock from side to side and all the enviroment moves with the building.
Then theres the added tension of soldiers trying to kill you as you attempt to survive the falling building.
Look at those amazing forgein desks at 2:30!
Those inhabitants of the non-descript yet exotic country really know how to make their furniture. I mean, those desks are built so well they can withstand a helicopter's minigun. : o
Well, by the looks of it, it is already looking like a nice sequel to the first uncharted. Some reasons are ,#1: It has an increased amount of gun play just by looking at this demo. #2: It has a highly detailed environment. If you have ever played the first uncharted you are on a low terrain where you could not see far around, but as you see at the beginning you are high up and you can see many highly detailed parts of the level. #3: Helicopter vs. Drake. Wow.... you would normally think it would be just a cinematic sequence within the game, but you have to start out fighting a helicopter.
I thought it was very impressive that Nate managed to slide down a telephone wire, shimmy across a narrow ledge, grab onto the side of a nearby building when the structure the ledge was attached to was destroyed, run across the rafters of the building, climb and jump up one of the planks when it breaks off, fly forward to the next rooftop, and to do it all while not only being shot at by a helicopter, but more importantly, to achieve all this while holding a pistol in his right hand. Hell yeah I wanna play as him!
1) Naughty Dog has added Open World Feel to the game...while adding Visual Clues on where to head next....like he is above the rooftop and there's a smoke like thing coming out from where the entrance to the next area/part of the game...
2) The Bullets from the Helicopter hits the hanging flower pot, as Drake enters the Bldg from top.
3) Also i have a feeling that Chloe is going to playable character, Online Co-Op :D
The thing that caught my eye was in the first few seconds of the video. The amount of detail put into the wind, making the clothes on the washing line flap and the tree leaves and foliage shake very realisticly, along with this, the what appears to be birds flying above, providing a flawless atmosphere, supported by the gorgeous cloads and mountains.
The Mountain range was the thing that really caught my eye....Also when he was running away from the helicopter, jumping from ledge to ledge and the last one was hanging and he was shooting from it......
The most exciting thing about Uncharted 2 is the simple fact that Nathan Drake is human. Yes, human. Despite the city swinging urban excavating Bionic Commando or PS3's Empire City reviving bug zapper Cole, Nathan Drake makes witty comments when he has to do anything dangerous or risky. He falls and stumbles, he screams when doing stunts, and he needs help. He is the new Indie with an attitude. This is what has been so entertaining to me, and what seems to be prized in the sequel.
