Notable review quotes:
“Rarely has any title delivered so much amazing action, such a wide variety of modes, and so many hours of value. It doesn't get any better than this.” - Nintendo Power
“In Brawl, Nintendo has handily produced one of the most compelling, rich and densely-packed experiences available on any console. A must-buy for Wii owners and a compelling lure for those who have yet to adopt the system, Super Smash Bros. Brawl is one of Nintendo's finest efforts yet." - Destructoid.com

It seems the only skill you need to be an ‘expert’ at Smash Brothers is the ability to hit buttons faster than anyone else who has had the misfortune to pick up a controller. Sometimes, someone will be lucky enough to discover a combo, and then much to their delight will carry on hitting the same buttons for the rest of the round until they think they’ve won. I say think they’ve won because most of the time it looks like you’re putting in a reasonable effort, only for you to later discover that your super-mega unstoppable fire breathing dragon punch looked impressive but was effectively the in-game representation of throwing pebbles at a tank.
But let’s pretend for a second that you can perform combos when you want to, and that the characters are balanced, and that your powerful looking attacks do cause a lot of damage. I want to see what happens when Solid Snake takes on Sonic. Oh, wait a minute, I can’t. Why? Because before these characters are unlocked you have to take every character and trawl though hours and hours of a side scrolling adventure section, then spend a day or two playing 4000 vs. matches and fulfilling a stack of obscure challenges. How can you call this fun?
And who the hell is Lucas!? You know what, I don’t even care.
