Def Jam: Icon roster revealed

The famous faces we'll be destroying

We’ve beaten and bloodied Big Boi and T.I. dozens of times since the release of the Def Jam: Icon demo last week, but until today we’ve known little about the rest of the roster outside of what could be gathered from trailers and screenshots. Well, we can finally rest easy knowing we’ll be able to beat Lil’ Jon within an inch of his life in just a few weeks. Oh, and we’ll teach Anthony Anderson a thing or two for ruining the limitless potential of My Baby’s Daddy.

The full list of urban culture representatives was finally revealed today, a nice mix of industry figureheads, series veterans and a plethora of new talent. The press release specifies the list as the entire cast of “playable fighters as well as celebrity special appearances,” but we expect the majority of these to be selectable characters:

Anthony Anderson
Big Boi
Bun B
E-40
Fat Joe
Funkmaster Flex
Ghostface Killah
James Hong
Jim Jones
Kano
KD Aubert
Kevin Liles
Lil John
Ludacris
Mayra Veronica
Melyssa Ford
Method Man
Mike Jones
Nina Nicole
Paul Wall
Redman
Robert Dolan
Russell Simmons
Sean Paul
Sticky Fingaz
Summer Walker
T.I.
Tego
The Game
Young Jeezy

While we’re a little sad that EA has continued to ignore their extended family of licensed characters (where’s John Madden versus Boromir? Don Vito Corleone vesus Catwoman?), we expect the roster to please series fans and newcomers alike.
