An EA game like Dead Space simply "wouldn't have happened" prior to the company's change of strategy two years ago, gameplay engineer David Yee has told VideoGamer.com. Following his appointment in 2007, CEO John Riccitiello has encouraged a focus on original intellectual properties - a move which has proved popular among the design staff, according to Yee.

From CVG: "You'd be a fool to skip cut scenes," says Anthony Johnson. "If you want to find out the mysteries of the game, you need to listen to the dialogue. But more than that, you actually need to listen to it so you can complete the game."
Joystiq writes- Even though it may be true that, as he said, Warren Ellis "wrote a bunch of the groundwork, backstory and structure on the forthcoming EA videogame Dead Space," it would appear that you may not find a whole lot of that work in the final product.
Gameplayer spoke with Glen Schofield, the head of the studio working on upcoming horror sci-fi game Dead Space, who gave them the scoop on EA's planes for the middleware's future.
A classification for Dead Space has appeared on the Australian OLFC website, as expected it has been given the highest rating possible for a game, MA15+, what was not expected however is one of the finer details indicating that the game has been submitted twice.
In a posting on the official Dead Space Web site, EA community manager Ben Swanson announced that the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC game "will be banned in Germany, China, and Japan." Swanson did not say what indications the team has received to suggest the imminent banning of the sci-fi survival horror game.

Well, this is rare. The 360 and PS3 versions of EA's sci-fi survival horror game Dead Space will be arriving in stores earlier than you thought. I'm not sure how exactly this happened, but the explanation probably involves a virgin sacrifice or two.

Some video game websites really are fascinating. We've been having a blast with the Resistance 2 ARGs, and now we're keeping an eye on this new Dead Space website. No Known Survivors isn't an ARG, though -- you won't be visiting the websites of fake corporations, nor will you be getting mysterious voicemails from Katee Sackhoff. Instead, No Known Survivors is an episodic, interactive 3D experience that takes you on board the USG Ishimura, to explore the events that happen before the upcoming horror game. If you know anything about the game, we're pretty certain that these weekly episodes won't end with bunnies or rainbows. In fact, we're pretty sure there will be ... well, no survivors.
No Known Survivors is an experiential site that allows visitors to explore the narrative world of Dead Space.

That VideoGame Blog: "But possibly the coolest thing, aside from the game itself, wasn't even a part of marketing the game to us, it was just something one really passionate developer on the game did. Chuck Beaver is a producer for the game, but he's also a bit of a cosplayer, so on his own free time he put together a truly amazing Isaac cosplay."
The packshot of EA's upcoming horror-fest Dead Space is appropriate - a bloody, severed hand floating in the emptyness of space.
