See if you can guess what game we’re talking about: in the war-torn near future, a supersolider - outfitted in skin-tight armor - wages battle against legions of aliens/other supersoldiers. To protect his scar-ridden face, he dons a nondescript, yet sleek helmet, thereby rendering him mute and indistinguishable from everything else on sale. Give up? It’s a trick question.

You might remember our feature on the ...

Eurogamer writes: "Dark Void creator Airtight Studios has said that it chose to partner with Capcom on its upcoming cover-based third-person shooter because the publisher allows developers to innovate.

"A lot of other companies are like, 'Make it just like the last game that came out because it sells well worldwide'," lead designer Jose Perez told journalists at Capcom's Captivate 08 event in Las Vegas last week. "Capcom is known for innovation...and I just want to see their logo come up before our game."

An interesting side story in Dark Void's creation is that it sees a family of figures who worked on Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge for Microsoft Game Studios brought back together nearly five years after the game shipped on Xbox."

Eurogamer writes: "Dark Void developer Airtight Studios is looking at the possibility of including Sixaxis motion controls in its upcoming third-person, cover-based shooter.

Although a third-person shooter, Dark Void gives players access to a jetpack that allows them to fly around the Void realm that the game's hero, Will, is trying to escape, and it's also possible to highjack enemy UFOs and pilot them, leading to suggestions it would be a good fit for Sixaxis.

"We're exploring some things with Sixaxis," lead designer Jose Perez told Eurogamer at Capcom's Captivate 08 event in Las Vegas. 'Right now it controls very similar to Crimson Skies [the last game many of the team worked on] when you're doing the flight stuff, so it's something we're looking into.'"

Joystiq writes: "We were hopeful that we'd see Capcom's new jet-packed shooter Dark Void sooner rather than later, but those hopes were dashed last week at Captivate 08 when we learned that the game was still "about a year" from completion.

It was a surprise because it was being shown so early, but mainly because of how darn good it looked. If you're as hungry for Dark Void as we are, check back later in the day for our impressions of the demo we saw."

At its Gamers Day event in London this week, Capcom announced Dark Void, an original IP developed by Airtight Games for undisclosed platforms. Airtight Games was founded in 2004 by many of the key developers behind Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge for Xbox, and also boasts Ed Fries, former VP of game publishing at Microsoft, as a co-founder.
