Twisted Metal has been noticeably absent from the PlayStation 3. The series that began on PS1 and has graced every PlayStation platform since, still has no official information regarding its development. Fans have been wondering if and when David Jaffe will reveal a new Twisted Metal, yet the Eat Sleep Play founder hasn't offered any official confirmation. Recently at DICE's AIAS Awards ceremony Jaffe seems to be singing a different tune.

Speaking at a panel on the emerging casual gaming market today, God of War and Twisted Metal creator David Jaffe called his company's 2007 PlayStation Network game Calling All Cars a mistake. Jaffe made the remark at the DICE Summit, an annual gathering of industry professionals in Las Vegas. Jaffe had been asked whether he considered the genre-bending downloadable action game a hardcore or casual experience. I'd call it a mistake, he replied.

Calling All Cars was the first PSN game released on the PSN store and it is also David Jaffe's, from God of War fame, first game on the PlayStation 3. The game was very fun but unexpected by some, especially for a Jaffe game. Well after 3 years on January 14, 2010 Sony decided to pull the plug on the online servers for good. -TheGamerAccess.com Until TheGamerAccess.com discovered a work-around.

Ironstarmovement writes: Calling All Cars was one of the very first PSN games I purchased when I first started playing my Playstation 3 online. The game in itself was a very fun local player game as well as a fantastic online multiplayer game (that is if you could ever find someone online playing the game).

Looks like starting January 14, 2010 Calling All Cars Servers will be offline for good. An in-game message breaks the bad news. At least we can still play this game offline, it is a blast.

When Calling All Cars was released, the negative backlash drove David Jaffe to say some non-family friendly things about his critics, and eventually wound to him swearing off blogging for a month. However, hindsight being 20/20, Jaffe now acknowledges that his desire to try and recreate the feeling he had when he was playing games on the SNES in college may have led him to create a game that he now admits didn't have the legs for the 21st century gaming climate.

In an interview with GamePro, Eat Sleep Play co-founders David Jaffe and Scott Campbell say that a hint to the studio's next game is hidden in Twisted Metal: Head On. In an interview with GamePro, Jaffe explained: Listen, if you want to know what our next game is, it's absolutely revealed if you have a sharp eye in Twisted Metal Head On: Extreme Edition. It's hidden really, really, really well. And just because it's hidden in Twisted Metal doesn't mean it has anything to do with Twisted Metal. That's why it's so well hidden. It's a really cryptic riddle we put in there. Jaffe and Campbell also sounded off on several other topics, including: God of War 3's development, those one standardized console comments, Calling All Cars, Eat Sleep Play's design focus.
