With reports coming in that Microsoft will phase out its 60GB Pro model and reduce the price of the Elite unit to $299; Sony is going to have to step up and reduce the price of their console. TripleChat states that potential buyers everywhere should expect both the announcement of the PS3 Slim model as well as a price cut to go with it next week at Games Con.

Given Sony's history on PS3 price cuts, there is a bit of worry to be had by buyers as the site claims there are two ways a price cut announcement can go; one that benefits the buyer, and one that only temporary boosts the company's sales numbers. Activision and Treyarch announced today the next call of Call of Duty: World at War map pack (Map Pack 2). Watch for three new multiplayer maps, along with one new Nazi Zombie map. Here are the details from Activision:

"Lucci, an Andover resident and president of the school's Animal Rights Club, two weeks ago launched a petition to heighten disgust over the canine aspect of a video bloodfest she saw her older brother engaging in.

More than 100 of Lucci's schoolmates have signed the petition. She hopes to forward it to the game's publisher, Activision of Santa Monica, Calif., a subsidiary of Paris-based Vivendi."

"Microsoft is celebrating a 53 percent year-over-year spike in Xbox 360 sales following the release of February's NPD results, which saw sales of the console hit 391,000 units.

The company says Xbox 360's "record-setting" sales pace is largely due to its lower price and value proposition, plus its software library. Comparing Metacritic scores, the company says 135 Xbox 360 games score 80 or higher, versus 94 for rival PlayStation 3."

"Hi everyone!

So as you know, Map Pack 1 is releasing shortly (March 19th) or has already released depending on when you read this. With it, a new TU / Patch is being released for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.

We have been reading many of the suggestions in the community rgarding improvements to the game, and hope that you'll find many of them in the list below. I think the most popular item in this list will be the improvements to the spawn system included in this TU =).

* All rifle grenades fired during the first 15 seconds of Search & Destroy will be duds to prevent griefing in that game mode.

The Call of Duty: World at War Map Pack 1 CONFIRMED for March 19th 2009

The map pack expands the addictive COD multiplayer experience with four new maps. Players fight through the burning streets of Berlin in "Nightfire" and take up battle positions in fortified Japanese bunkers in "Knee Deep." "Station" offers a bombed out underground train station, and the Nazi Zombies return in "Verrückt" (Zombie Asylum) featuring more weapons, new Perks-a-Cola machines and electroshock defenses.

Fire-bombed Berlin provides the backdrop for "Nightfire," an intense battlefield for mid to large-scale team games. Shelled buildings and ruins of the city provide coverage among the war-ravaged streets, and the flames of the burning city expose the enemy running through the night. Fight for your life knowing that this fiery urban battlefield may soon be your grave.

"Station" offers a bombed out underground train station littered with destroyed subway cars, hidden passageways, loading platforms and second story overlooks. This medium sized map is perfect for dominating Capture the Flag and other team games and provides a wide range of combat options from close range choke points to hidden sniper spots.

"Knee Deep" takes place on the island of Peleliu in a once tranquil village turned chaotic Japanese command center. Aiming to retrieve the valuable intel housed in the command post, troops fight through the jungle, wade knee deep in streams and take battle positions in fortified Japanese bunkers to secure this important communication center. Don't get my tone wrong, however, I was pleasantly surprised by this fact and even more so excited. Treyarch sent these changes out as part of a hot patch, a patch that doesn't require any downloading or change to your files whatsoever (which is probably why a lot of people were confused and didn't even know that anything had gone down). The changes were part of a slightly bigger patch, for which the details can be found after the jump, but at heart I really don't care about that crap: you took away the single biggest cripple on the hardcore playlist and that's all anyone could ask for.
