Last week Criterion announced Burnout Paradise PSN for the US PlayStation Store, but made no mention of its European equivalent.
Between the monthly NPD sales data and Electronic Arts' signing of two high-profile developers to new distribution agreements, yesterday was chock-full of gaming news. While those bits grabbed the most headlines, another of yesterday's EA announcements could prove to affect the industry even more.
WorthPlaying writes: "Buckle up and prepare to unleash automotive anarchy in the ultimate burner's paradise as you are given license to wreak havoc in Paradise City, the ultimate seamless racing battleground, with a massive infrastructure of traffic-heavy roads to abuse. Burnout Paradise will be available to download from the US PlayStation Network via the PlayStation Store for $29.99 this fall."
According to Jeremy Chubb from Criterion, the upcoming software update, "Davis" (now known as "Bikes Pack"), will be completely free of charge, along with a whole host of other things.
The addition of motorcycles to Burnout Paradise -- first announced back in April as part of the upcoming "Davis" update -- was an exciting prospect for fans of the smash-em-up racing series. But those who get a particularly sick kick out of seeing road-rashed riders are in for a disappointment: According to MTV Multiplayer, whose Stephen Totilo recently got some hands-on time with the update, human bodies won't be receiving that same level of patented Burnout damage during wrecks as car bodies do.
Playstation 3-owners: rejoice!
After some controversy over the selective distribution of a new car, the Nakamura Rai-jin Turbo RWD, with the Cagney update, Criterion have decided to open it up and allow everyone to own the car.
Well the 3rd update in the Burnout: Paradise series is here. The Cagney update has already been unveiled for PS3 fans in Japan (9th July) and is now available to the rest of us in Europe, Asia and the United States. The update features totally revamped modes and add-ons including "3 new online game modes, special calendar events, new cars, 70 multi-part, timed Freeburn Challenges and a wealth of improvements to the existing game".

On their official blog, Team Criterion has written "We're sorry to announce that the Codename: Cagney update for Xbox 360 has been delayed by 4 days.
MCV: Following Monday's clarification of Sony's plans for its new Trophy system, the first games supporting the update have gone live ¿ and more developers have pledged their support for the new rewards scheme.

Criterion Games' first post on PlayStation.Blog is causing a stir among some gamers. In the Burnout Paradise announcement, designer Simon Phipps noted that a new update would include "1080i support for PlayStation 3 owners with 'almost HD' sets."

At the end of this month (June 2008), the software update "Cagney" will be released for Burnout Paradise on the PS3 and Xbox 360 with a plethora of fixes, changes, and additions. Some very notable changes include a new title screen, live frontpage, new cars, and more modes.
