It may not be Halloween just yet, but you can at least start prepping yourself early. To help get you in the mood, we’ve brought together some of our favorite Halloween-themed content from across the gaming spectrum in one video. Only a few games over the years have actually taken place on the last day of October (although) some MMOs like to live it up with awesome Halloween celebrations, but plenty of gamers have picked up the slack by creating their own custom content with mods for some of their favorite games. We’ve pulled together some of the best of both, sotake a look and re-live some old favorites (or discover some new ones)! 

Some robots make cars. Others make candy. We need cars and candy to sustain our unsustainable lifestyles, so those robots make sense. Videogame robots, however, don’t generally make Toyotas. They don’t make Tootsie Rolls, either. They definitely don’t make sense...

A song about dusty shooter Borderlands executed in a rap/rock style has the potential to be a disaster. But this four minute track from the hard-working TEAMHEADKICK is definitely not terrible. Any tune that lyricalizes about "little midgets shooting shotguns" is absolutely OK with us. See the video. Hear the music.

Another fine piece of DLC for the ever-brilliant Borderlands, this one is strictly for the end-game players, raising the level cap to 61 and ramping up the difficulty. It continues the story of the original game, which sees Atlus Corp invading Pandora and, headed up by General Knoxx, gunning for your hide.

While zombies in the media have become rather overdone, Gearbox have approached their first bit of DLC with spooky B-movie style panache, and created something equal parts charming and fun. The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned puts you on a deserted island, picking up the pieces of the Atlas Corporation’s failed mining operations.

This piece of Borderlands DLC is a repetitive, boring-as-shit arena grind. You see, it’s a co-op expansion where you’re placed in one of three areas to fight different foes, under conditions such as slowly draining health, low gravity, or only your pistols being effective.

Each section has between five and 25 rounds. Each round is made up of five waves, which take between two and five minutes.

Right about now the rest of the internet is tripping over itself to crank out the “definitive” end-of-year list. Well, they can stop. We already did it. Over the next few pages our unquestioned expertise will identify the coolest, most important games of 2009 with zero room for error. Yeah, it’s that big of a deal. That’s why they’re basking in the dazzling radiance of a Platinum Chalice.
