Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WWII

The PS3 offers new ways to shred airborne Nazis, but stalls on lingering issues

Perhaps as an olive branch, Ubisoft has packed ten extra planes into this edition, as well as two new missions and Adversarial, a nifty multiplayer mode that transplants the old Assault shooter mode to the skies, where player teams try to bomb each others' bases. That is, if you can find enough people online with the PS3 to make serviceable teams. We had trouble getting enough planes into the air, though when we did, the mode shone out as one of the better additions to this otherwise serviceable flyer.

You'll love
  • PS3-exclusive content
  • Planes that sound and feel unique
  • Intense, demanding battles
You'll hate
  • Lame dialogue
  • Not-quite-perfect Sixaxis controls
  • Trying to fill an online game
