Chalk this up in the 'who would have ever thought' category, but the developers of Blast Factor have decided to add in trophies for their TWO YEAR OLD GAME. While Blast Factor was a fun title to play at the time, much of that had to do with the whole complete lack of PSN and PS3 games during that time frame. Its unique shooter gameplay still gives it some legs, but compared to games like Everyday Shooter and Super Stardust HD it seems a little... first-gen.

PS3fanboy.com: Just by chance, we decided to give Blast Factor another go this morning. Perhaps it was fate, or perhaps we were reminded how fun it is by the promise of an soon-to-be-released expansion on the PlayStation.Blog. Either way, when we started the game we were greeted by a message on the menu screen. It read as follows: "A new Blast Factor expansion pack is available to download. Please visit the PLAYSTATION@Store to find out more!"

Blast Factor, the addictive little shooter downloadable on the PSN Store, is receiving its second expansion pack. If you don't own the game or haven't read up on it, check out PSU's review of the game with its multiplayer expansion.

The new expansion is called Advanced Research. In this pack we will gain a bunch of new levels with abnormal shaped levels. There will be a ton of new enemies to battle against, each more complex and interesting than the last.

Sony just sent out a press release that lists what's coming to the PlayStation Store in the next little while. First and foremost, PSone games Jet Moto and Wipeout are on the way for PSP at $5.99 each.

So's a $2.99 patch that will let you play Geome Blast Factor online via multiplayer. At least I assume it's online multiplayer.

A few trailers, including God of War II, Gran Turismo HD Concept, and some for Warner Bros. movies, will round out the lineup. Next week, maybe? Who knows. Full release after the jump.

Also available is Go! Sudoku, which, as you would imagine, lets you play Sudoku on your PS3. The game is available for free, but you'll have to pay $2.99 for each additional puzzle pack: Easy (516 puzzles), Mild (376 puzzles), Difficult (198 puzzles) and Fiendish (98 puzzles).

Where Blast Factor lacks style it makes up for with dynamic gameplay elements, including the most effective usage of Sixaxis's motion capabilities to date. While deceptively simple, the act of jerking the controller left or right to slosh around the liquid within each stage (corralling the enemies) typifies a clear advantage PS3 could have over Xbox 360 -- though the lack of rumble certainly damages the game's 'blast' factor. Other noteworthy devices include Blast Factor's auto-adjusting difficulty and enemy variation (players must discover how each class of baddie is defeated)...
