Beyond Good & Evil 2

Is this Beyond Good & Evil 2 footage?

YouTube video purports to be leaked footage of BG&E2

A video has appeared on YouTube that its uploader is claiming is the first gameplay footage of UbiSoft's Beyond Good and Evil 2.

We were alerted to it by Twitter chat, where it was suggested it could be faked footage, but on further inspection - and bearing in mind it's proximity to E3 week - we're inclined to think it might be genuine... what do you think?

Expect more on this later on.

agreed, see the way she bumps into the wall as she runs up the stairs.

but if they manage to get that dynamic a camera into the game and still make it work for people who suck, thatd be insane.

that said its probably just a target render :(

The character animations are probably the best I've seen, especially the interactions with the environment, like when she pushes herself off walls. The camera is impossibly cinematic. If this is genuine, it looks like the biggest leap forward in video gaming in years.

We is thinking target footage too... Either intended for E3 or old. Impressive whatever.

I've never heard of Beyond Good and Evil before. Jumping mechanics look good, just maybe a bit too optimistic for this point in gaming?

it's definately BG&E, the character design and animation is pure Jade, and the helicopter design at the end clearly has it's DNA in the vehicles of the original

I want to know why there's an empty, running helicopter just hovering there...

@missinglink101

me to... but hey at least that video makes us dream of how more gaming shall evolve

The only reason that I thinks it's fake is because of the camera movement. If that's actually real, then this is already a must buy for me.

I've also noticed that before she jumped on the copter, she held her arm like she injured it. Again, if that wasn't a cutscene, then this is going to be THE future of gaming.

As for the empty copter just hovering right there...... maybe Pej was remote controlling it from a secret, far off base? He is a mechanic after all.

WOW...hopefully the final game plays as nice as it looks...reminds me of mirrors edge, sort of...which IS a good thing

I dunno about actual game play, but it looks pretty convincing as another teaser trailer.
KatamariLovesSpock  - 6 months 24 days ago
Maybe It's just me but the movements look a lot like Mirror's Edge.
thefinalmax  - 6 months 24 days ago
yea, it does seem a little bit like the Mirror's Edge movements, but I didn't like the lack of colors in that game (where's the green?)
badsector  - 6 months 24 days ago
Needs more green :-P
But it matches with the released video's palette (brown everywhere).
Beyond that it looks awesome, although i don't remember that much jumping in the first game.

Although i think Jade looked better in the first game. Where's her face btw?

Too bad that's pre-rendered shit and the real game will not be as godly looking at this "leak".

it might be like the assassins creed video where it turned out to be mgs4 but we should wait another 10 years till the company shuts down to ask any questions

Just for the sake of playing devil's advocate, this being BG&E 2 footage is more plausible than it first seems. This reminds me of a couple of the chase scenes from the first game that were incredibly cinematic, but still totally playable. And perhaps the only example in gaming where you have the character running AT the screen in a chase sequence and IT WORKS. The first game was also an exercise in context-sensitive gameplay, where one button did 90% of the work, especially in action sequences. Essentially, when the pace picks up, the gameplay streamlines itself so as not to get in the way. Because of that, you can definitely have these intense action sequences and still be in control of them.

The BG&E was capable of having interesting camera angles while making the game still controllable. I have faith that they could pull off a sequence like this in-game. After all this though, I think it's a target render too. Just one that's closer to the real deal than we all want to believe.
