Battlefield: Bad Company

DICE has announced the fourth VIP map pack for Battlefield Bad Company 2 has been released.

Tomorrow Bad Company 2 will see the release of Map Pack 4. The map pack contains Atacama Desert Rush and Port Valdez Conquest and is free to VIP members.

DICE senior producer Patrick Bach hasn't ruled out further Battlefield 1943-like titles, but has told VideoGamer.com that they must be careful not to milk the franchise. I wouldn't say that we're not thinking of it, because we are. It was an experiment and a successful one, said Bach when asked about a sequel. He continued: We haven't said no to building more digital distribution-only games, but we need to be careful. You shouldn't just try to make money out of things. Just because it's a success, doesn't mean you want to milk it. Battlefield is a delicate product that we want to make sure we're getting the most out of. Pushing out more 1943-like products could actually damage the franchise.

EA Inc. titles for Sony Corp.'s Playstation 3 dropped below $20 at retailer Amazon.com this week. This week, Battlefield: Bad Company carried a sale price of $18.82, Army of Two held a sale price of $19.99, and Mercenaries 2: World in Flames dropped to $19.99.

Battlefield and Mirror's Edge developer DICE has reiterated its commitment to its hardcore fans, saying, we are not going casual.

The demos of Mirror's Edge and Too Human had strong online showings in 2008, but the full versions failed to captivate Xbox Live users in the same way, according to Microsoft's annual rankings of top-played games. Larry Major Nelson Hryb posted the rankings to his blog on Sunday, showing that the Mirror's Edge demo was the 12th most popular game for Xbox Live members. Its full-game counterpart was nowhere to be seen on the top 20 list.
