"Mark your calendars – this Thursday, November 26th, the next phase of the wildly popular Red Bull Island will be released in PlayStation Home. To complement the existing Red Bull Air Race World Championship mini-game, Red Bull will unleash two brand new spaces that will appeal to sports fans and beach bunnies alike. The first, an exhibition of action and adventure sports photographs from Red Bull Illume.

The winning photograph from each of the competition's ten categories is displayed on large illuminate cubes, imitating the real-life exhibit. The second is a Red Bull Flugtag mini-game where users can compete against one another by launching one of five wild flying machines off of a 30-foot high deck in hopes of achieving flight. Think: The Wright Brothers… or that time you and your genius buddies decided to pile into your wagon and take a ride off the roof."
Instant gratification is a hell of a lot sweeter. Sure, we could sit patiently and wait for official announcements on our favorite franchises. We could avoid assumption, steer clear of speculation and only publish our opinion when it’s unequivocally backed by cold, hard press release fact. That wouldn’t be nearly as much fun, though. ...

Ubisoft today released the next Assassin's Creed adventure, Assassin's Creed II. Things are much bigger this time around, literally. A limited edition was created for sale at GameStop. You'll see the tin case is much larger than the original Assassin's Creed Limited Edition, and a comparison shot to the PS3 controller so you can get an idea how big the package is.

The Assassin's Creed II: Master Assassin's Edition GameStop Exclusive comes with:

- Assassin's Creed II game, manual, game box
- 8.5 inch Collectable Ezio Statue
- Artbook: The Art of Assassins Creed
- Premium Collectable Metal Case
- Two Exclusive, in-game maps: Palazzo Medici, Santa Maria Dei Frari
- Additional content DVD: Behind the scenes of Assassin's Creed, Assassin's Creed II Soundtrack

GameStop.com no longer lists the Master Assassin's Edition, so check with your local GameStop store and see if you manage to find one. The Assassin's Creed II: Master Assassin's Edition has an MSRP of $79.99 for both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. They're currently listed as high as $250 on eBay.
Climbing up impossibly tall structures and stealthily murdering Templar knights during the sharply realized Crusades was so much fun, we accepted certain flaws – like the repetitive side-tasks you had to undertake before each assassination mission could be unlocked, or the way the game sent you back to your home fortress after each successful takedown – as minor irritations. ...

Patrick Plourde, the lead designer on Assassin's Creed 2 at Ubisoft Montreal, isn't a big fan of that whole "fail early, fail often" thing, ubiquitous as it may be among game design talks.

"Oftentimes I visit sites like Gamasutra or go to talks like GDC, and one thing they always say, this recent trend -- it's interesting but it doesn't relate to me," Plourde said during a session at the Montreal International Game Summit today, referring to the "fail early, fail often" principle of design.

"There's a stage in the game design process where you need to experiment and not be fearful of failure," he acknowledged, "but at the same time, it leads to a lot of fail."

Gamervision: As you might know by now, Gamervision takes Collector's Editions very, very seriously. You can be sure that at least one person in the office will be picking up one or another, and then chatting about it the following day. What can we say, we love plastic stuff! It's also cool to see developers try and one-up each other, each trying to give gamers more bang for their buck. As of now, the winner is likely BioShock, which came with a fantastic Big Daddy figure for a measly $10, or Modern Warfare 2 with it's night vision goggles, since, you know, they technically have a use outside of sitting on a shelf.

That crown might be shifting, however, since we've been sent some images of the new Assassin's Creed II Special Edition that make it look like the new lord of all things materialistic. Yes, yes, we already knew what was in the box, but the images below give a great sense of scale, and show exactly how awesome the $80 box is.

Ubisoft's Xbox Live-like community toolset, UPlay, is set to launch next week alongside priority release Assassin's Creed II, according to the publisher's CEO Yves Guillemot.

The system, first announced at E3 this year, will encourage gamers to play Ubisoft titles, as the more they play, the more rewards they'll be in-line for.

"We are creating the equivalent of an Xbox Live system, but for Ubisoft games, where when you play you will be able to have a kind of mileage system - that you have for planes or hotels," he explained.

Critical Gamer Writes: There's no new information in this commercial for Assassin's Creed 2, but it still manages to turn the hype knob to 11. Ubisoft still has a lot to prove though, possibly more than any other game release this year. Thankfully, we'll know the whole story in a little over a week, but this video doesn't make the wait any easier.

It's also interesting to note that this commercial pretty much pretends the Xbox 360 version doesn't exist. This isn't the first time this kind of thing has happened, and in fact you'd think the same about the Playstation 3 version of Modern Warfare 2 – still, it's interesting to speculate on what this could mean for differences between the two versions.

InsightBits writes, "If you are living in Canada, you have witnessed great deals on games. From Batman Arkham Asylum to borderlands and even the hyped and much demanded Modern Warfare 2. Now it is Assassin's Creed 2 that joins the party. The PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game are available for pre-order at Futureshop for only $49.99. The price comes into effect when the game is added to the cart.

Perhaps what is most interesting for us Canadian gamers is that the regular price of the game is set at $59.99, a sign that our regularly priced games are approaching that to our neighbors in the South."
It's particularly understandable considering the almost undisputed assumption that Modern Warfare 2 will be another massive sales success; this week the game was announced as GameStop's most pre-ordered game ever. However, one title isn't wavering in challenging Modern Warfare 2, and that's Assassin's Creed 2."

GamingUnion.net caught up with Ubisoft Montreal CEO, Yannis Mallat, to ask him what he thinks of Modern Warfare 2.
It's almost exactly two years to get Assassins Creed II made (which will be released on November 20). Though Creed fans may not have to wait too long to see something else based on the game.

"Our approach will be simple... to keep down the clutter, we won't list items in the ads that are at full retail price (unfortunately, too many). We will also organize and group the items by game platform. Many deals will be available both in-store and on-line this year.

The first Assassin's Creed's charm was in the sumptuous graphics and straightforward action - that incredible climbing and free-running, and the visceral thrill of stapling evil people to the dirt with a wristblade. With AC2 the rest of the game has caught up with the brilliance of those central ideas to create a complete and coherent experience. We can think of plenty of words that could describe Assassin's Creed 2 - involving, exciting, cinematic - but there's only one word that sums it up beautifully. Killer. Following his atmospheric score for the original Assassin's Creed, Kyd takes the music in an adventurous new direction and crafts an immensely diverse, melodic and progressive musical pallete featuring acoustic and symphonic orchestrations with emotional depth and diversity. The original score was recorded with A-List musicians and a Hollywood orchestra and choir at the world-renowned Capitol Studios. The Assassin's Creed II Original Soundtrack will be available for digital download from popular music stores on November 16th.

Ubisoft's promotional activities for Assassin's Creed II began way back in May of this year, and to this point have never really stopped. Now, with the release date less than one month away, it's unlikely that the marketing campaign will cease prior to this years' busy retail season. This weekend, however, Ubisoft are stepping-out with the most encouragable aspect of their campaign to date: an invitation for the public to get their hands-on the upcoming Assassin's Creed II weeks prior to the official release date.
One is Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, one is Uncharted 2, and the third is Assassin's Creed II. Those three are just incredible."

That's high praise from a figure some would call the most talented game designer working out of Japan right now, and Assassin creative director Patrice Désilets is more than a little appreciative. "I really never felt much pressure, but with Kojima saying things like that, I'm starting to feel it now," he responded with a laugh."
The developers explain how the combat in Assassins Creed 2 has been modeled to give the true feeling of weapon wielding and real combat.

Speaking to Xbox World 360 in its latest issue, producer Sébastien Puel said it would make sense for a Woman to do the dirty work in the female-run economies of WWII-era France and England.

"We've had discussions on that very topic," Puel said when quizzed on the possibility of a female assassin. "It could be really interesting but we'd need to find the right time period and place for that.
The background textures in the cutscenes are in fact very very low-res, as shown in the source. The rest looks very nice.
The San Francisco based company is flying a select number of journalists out to Italy for a full 10 days to play the game. It makes us wonder if Assassin's Creed II is simply a *really* long game or if 10 days in Italy is a bit excessive.

Gaming Union: "When Assassin's Creed came out, people were quick to compare the PlayStation 3 version with the Xbox 360. One of the major differences came with the framerate, as the PlayStation 3 version frequently ducked below the 30fps mark.

This is clearly an issue which concerns some gamers, and could affect which console they buy the game for. It's also something that Ubisoft don't want to see repeated, as Gaming Union found out when we managed to catch up with Stefano Petrullo, a PR Manager for Ubisoft, to ask him if steps are being taken to prevent this."

Gamervision Reports: "Earlier today, we covered the news that Kristen Bell would be reprising her role as Lucy Stillman in Assassin's Creed II. In the press bundle, a bunch of images of the actress reading her lines was supplied, as was a few images giving a first look into AC2 outside the Animus. Generic images? Maybe, but after looking into them (and reading into the game's story a little deeper) it might actually have given us a whole new look at the sequel.

So let's start with a few things we know: Desmond returns, will access his ancestor's history, and will have more to do with the game than occasionally wandering around. That's really all we have to go on. However, if we look at these images closely, there's more than meets the eye. Maybe."
The following ads are guilty of a much worse crime, though. They all utterly adore themselves. Self-indulgent, self-loving bullshit, below you’ll find cynical commercials that have ...
