Today SEGA announced that it will publish the newest addition to FromSoftware's mech-based combat franchise, Armored Core 4. From the developers of Chromehounds, Armored Core 4 is scheduled for release on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 next spring.

With the developer's other mech-based game, Chromehounds, making its debut this past summer, fans of From Software's robotic tendencies got good news today, as Sega announced that it will publish Armored Core 4 in North America. The company estimated a retail release of the title to fall during the spring of 2007.

"Building on the success of Chromehounds, we believe that Armored Core 4 will deliver an action-packed experience that will not only cater to the diehard fans, but will attract new fans to the mech-based combat genre."

Sega announced today that they'll be releasing the reigning king of giant robot combat Armored Core 4 on both 360 and PS3 in Spring 2007. The Xbox 360 version of Armored core 4 has according to PS3focus.nl been cancelled. The series producer and From Software CEO Naotoshi Zin stated that this decision was due to a recent contract with Sony entertainment to keep the Armored Core series PlayStation 3 exclusive.

All but the first game were previously announced. Given its publisher (and title), the first game is likely a train simulation game of some form.

The remaining 8 titles are currently a mystery, so we encourage wild speculation.

Sony will also have a theater in its booth which will show video footage of a total of 35 titles. We presume there will be some overlap with the playable titles and the video-only titles, but Sony wasn't clear about the matter.
