In Japan (and other parts of Asia), kinder, gentler titles such as Aquanaut's Holiday, Afrika/Hakuna Matata and Dress are aimed at a demographic that marketers seem pretty sure just doesn't exist in America. Gamezine: After being rebranded, we thought the PlayStation 3's Afrika would be coming to our waters early this year. However, the National Geographic has removed the title from their upcoming games. Last year we reported on the National Geographic's entrance into the video games industry by creating a new games division that would work in conjunction with companies like Namco Bandai and Sony. One title to come from National Geographic's games division was Sony Japan's Afrika, rebranded as National Geographic: Africa. Afrika US release next month! Ps3fanboy.com writes: Remember Afrika? It's a nature-themed PS3-exclusive photography game that met moderate success when it debuted in Japan earlier this year. An English release seemed unlikely due to the niche content of the game, but it appears the game will be making its way to American shores -- and from an unlikely source, as well. National Geographic has picked up the rights for Afrika, rebranding it as National Geographic: Africa. It's promised to release next month -- but with potentially very little fanfare.
