A couple of weeks ago, Capcom held a contest exclusively for press editors. We were given a task to figure out how to unlock a secret Unlockable item in the game. However, we're sad to report that we didn't manage to win the contest. However, now that someone won the contest, the secret is now out to the public.

Joint Strike works. The gameplay hasn’t changed since 1984 and this is a good thing, if you’re making a 1942 game. This is a classic vertical shooter, waves of planes swirl and spin from all areas of the screen, red planes offer powerups, bombs and health; standard planes offer points, lots of points. ...

Sorry, no trophies for 1942 or Bionic Commando (News)

The upcoming 1942 and Bionic Commando PSN games are not going to support trophies, according to a statement by Capcom PR Manager Tim Ng. Many speculated after a recent PlayStation.Blog post that the upcoming downloadable Bionic Commando title would support PS3's Achievement-esque Trophy system. Considering how popular they are for Super Stardust HD, we really hoped Capcom would've been able to add these shiny accomplishments into their games. Perhaps they'll reconsider for future titles down the line.

Capcom has announced the release date for the Xbox 360's Xbox LIVE Arcade release and PLAYSTATION 3's PlayStation Store release of 1942: Joint Strike.

Xbox LIVE Arcade release: 7/23/08
PlayStation Store release: 7/24/08

Xbox 360 gamers will get it first (PS3 gamers must be feeling those strict Thursday PlayStation Store updates).
