PS3 tech to power arcade machines

Cell processor picked to run the next batch of Namco arcades

The powerful processors that allow the PS3 to slap those pretty pictures all over your TV in glorious 1080p will be at the core of the new Namco arcade machines.

Namco will be ripping various parts out of the Sony super console for its next line of coin-guzzlers, including the Cell microchip (the main processor), as well as the graphics card, too, according to a Reuters report.

This is the first time that Sony has allowed for the Cell chip to be used in any device other than the PS3.

Japanese newspaper, Mainichi Shimbun (Daily News), also reports that Tekken 6 will be the first game to use the powerful new hardware.
