E3 07: When GamesRadar met The Simpsons Movie director

We kick back with David Silverman and his tuba

Tuesday 10 July 2007
So there we were, lounging in the bar of our hotel in Santa Monica, sipping daiquiris and enjoying the live musical noodlings of the Cross Heart Jazz Experience when David Silverman, the director of The Simpsons Movie, strolls in with a honking great tuba slung over his shoulder and joins the band for a head-nodding, chin-stroking jazzmatazz of sweet, sweet ear sex. And we thought the tuba was only good for making comedy flatulence parps. Shame on us.

When the lights signalled the end of the bepop, we took our chance and - in the friendliest possible way - assaulted Mr Silverman. And rather than shooing us away, Silverman kindly accomodated our requests for pictures and was happy to spend ten minutes or so just shooting the breeze, talking about The Simpsons, jazz and a bunch of other stuff.

The Hollywood hipster told us how thrilled he is with the upcoming Simpsons flick and that fans of the show would be equally chuffed with the iconic Springfield family's big screen debut.

Check out the movie below to see Silverman and his tuba in action. The man's a dude. No question.
