Monday 23 April 2007
This morning we were alarmed to discover that Sony had enlisted us with the elite American assault force, the US Navy SEALs. Waiting for us in the post was a lovely canvas package promising to give us 'advanced training' before 'deployment' - no doubt into one of the world's many violent hotspots. Crikey, we thought, our breakfast hasn't even settled yet.

Fortunately, we haven't actually been press ganged. The package is just a neat, thoughtful way of delivering some ...
The SOCOM series took an incredible leap forward with the release of SOCOM 3. Fans were treated to improved graphics, massive 32 player online matches, the addition of vehicles, and the introduction of crosstalk - a feature which allowed players to sync data between their PS2 copy of SOCOM 3 and SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo on the PSP.

Unfortunately, even die-hard fans may be disappointed with Zipper Interactive's underwhelming new entry in the SOCOM library, SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs ...
SOCOM, the military-themed shooter series that launched online gaming on the PS2, is once again headed for stores on Nov. 7, this time with a two-part attack. Hitting simultaneously, SOCOM: US Navy SEALs Combined Assault for the PS2 and SOCOM: US Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo 2 for the PSP would be a dead heat in a longest-title-ever contest. But more than that, they'll sync up Sony's console and its handheld like never before, featuring parallel storylines that can change on one platform depending ...
The SOCOM series continues to soldier on, with the fourth PS2 game, SOCOM: US Navy SEALs Combined Assault, slated to hit stores November 7. We've got fresh details on what to expect from its multiplayer action, as publisher SCEA has unveiled 10 new 32-player stages exclusive to the new game.

While each of the stages are limited to certain game types and times of day, they all sound impressively huge. Especially the Echelon stage, which lets players tackle Suppression, Demolition, Extraction, ...
America's most effective semi-aquatic killers are set to return to both PSP and PS2 this fall, but so far Sony hasn't said anything about the long-expected PS3 version.

SOCOM: US Navy SEALs Combined Assault is the full name of the PS2 version, which will combine a brand new four-player co-op option with the usual 32-player deathmatch mode. Improved stat-tracking and chat functions will streamline the online experience, while the solo mode will also be enhanced with three new classes of ...
