HellDescent writes: Konami has just launched the official website for Silent Hill: Shattered Memories. The page has a few character bios, info and screens. Nothing majorly new, but the new trailer is pretty sweet. The trailer is the Attract Mode video that would be found when idle in the main menu for a minute or 2. It certainly attracts us.

HellDescent writes: Fellow horror game fans, we finally have a date! SH: Shattered Memories will be releasing in America for the Wii on December 8th. After a few delays and mixed date info we can finally rest easy, that is until the game comes out and we find out we actually killed our wife. Oh wait this is a re-imaging of Silent Hill 1, sorry...

Joystiq: Konami has yet to offer an official release date for Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, and the unofficial release dates keep shifting identities like some kind of haunted village. After Nintendo dated the game on its release schedule, we thought we could safely expect the game in November, but retailers have changed their dates once again. GameStop now expects to have Shattered Memories in stock on December 8. GameFly, whose dates tend to differ from official ones by a few days, lists the Wii game as being available November 26, but the PS2 and PSP versions on December 31. Wal-Mart's dates put the Wii version at November 24 and the PlayStation games on Christmas Day (which is probably not the real ship date, on account of there not being any mail delivery that day). Basically, the game is coming out later. It's not in stores right this second. That's all we can say with any degree of certainty.

JPS Reports: If you still have not had a chance to pre-order Silent Hill: Shattered Memories for the Nintendo Wii, PlayStation 2 or the PSP, now is the good idea to do so as GameStop is giving away a free soundtrack of the game...

Screenwriter Roger Avary and producer Samuel Hadida are going back to the haunted town of Silent Hill. Both have now signed on to pen the 2nd film based on the cult classic Silent Hill series. After lukewarm reviews of the first film and fan outrage at the deviation from source material, we can only hope Avary and Hadida will take some more time with this one. We believe it can be done, but it just needs the right dedication and research. The 2nd film will be moving from paper to reel after the release of Resident Evil: Afterlife. We hope to see more psychological fear and less Pyramid Head booty.

HellDescent writes: Gamestop is listing the next installment in the Silent Hill series as a November 3rd release. Yes, delays usually suck but they're always for the better. A polished game is better than a unpolished one. Also, Gamestop is now offering a soundtrack with a preorder on Shattered Memories. No, it is not the Shattered Memories OST but a compilation of 18 different tracks in the series. Lame, we know.

HellDescent writes: Since the recent announcement of God Of War 1 and 2 being ported into the HD world for the PS3 on Blu-ray, many people have already started to wonder, What other games will get this treatment? We all know Sony have dropped backwards compatibility for some time now and has no plans to ever bring it back. But could re-releasing a game series in Blu-ray become a new trend?
