PS2 - The King of Fighters Collection: The Orochi Saga - The King of Fighters Collection: The Orochi Saga

In the arcade glory days, 2D fighting games from SNK had many fans in both the US and Japan. In the mid-nineties SNK created The King of Fighters, a “super” fighting game combining characters from some of their numerous hit series. This annually updated fighting franchise’s first five versions (1994-1998) have been archived in King of Fighters: The Orochi Saga. ...

PS2 - Persona 4 - Persona 4

No matter how much we try to forget it, we'll always remember high school. The tension, the confusion, the wanting to fit in, the falling through TV sets and battling monsters with our empowered darkest emotions, our most pivotal moments playing out in anime cutscenes. Good times. At least, that's how we choose to remember grades 10 to 12. ...

PS2 - Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories - Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories

It's hard to believe in this age of shameless annual sequels to everything, but there have only been three games in the mega-successful Kingdom Hearts franchise since it began in 2002 (we're not counting the weird V-cast game). ...

PS2 - Quantum of Solace - Quantum of Solace

Perhaps you're reading this review thinking, "why review it? It's just a substandard port of the current-gen versions of Quantum of Solace." That's where you're wrong, mister. Unlike other console translations of the newest James Bond film, Quantum of Solace, the PS2 video game isn't a first-person shooter still chasing the ghost of GoldenEye, which should garner your attention. ...

PS2 - SingStar ABBA - SingStar ABBA

It’s tough to review a game like SingStar: ABBA, because it does what it does very, very well – the question is, does anyone want a game that does what this game does? ...

PS2 - Crash Bandicoot: Mind Over Mutant - Crash Bandicoot: Mind Over Mutant

Last time we saw him, in Crash of the Titans, Crash Bandicoot was a brainless chump, lacking both charisma and charm. The game wasn’t much better either. But things are definitely better for both parties this time around. Everything here says ‘Saturday morning’, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Judging by the fully animated cartoon cutscenes, fast-talking bad guys and pop-culture references, that’s exactly what the game intended to mimic and it's done well. ...

PS2 - Dragon Ball Z: Infinite World - Dragon Ball Z: Infinite World

The first draft of this review opened with a joke in which we talked about the amazing impression Dragon Ball Z: Infinite World made on everyone in the office, captivating and amazing us. But we changed it to make sure someone from publisher Atari’s marketing department couldn’t rip out just that quote and print it in the game’s ads. ...

PS2 - Eternal Poison - Eternal Poison

The events of Eternal Poison are triggered by that timeless chestnut of plot clichés: the kidnapping of a princess. However, very few other details of this captivating strategy RPG are typical. The princess was kidnapped by demons, whose country seems to have just sprung out of nothingness. ...

PS2 - PES 2009 - Pro Evolution Soccer 2009

If PES on PS3 is Theo Walcott – young, improving, a little unpolished – then PES on PS2 is Dwight Yorke: aging, not as fresh as it once was, but still with that brief magic of a former champion. ...

PS2 - Buzz! Junior: Ace Racers - Buzz! Junior: Ace Racers

If you had a Scalextric set as a kid, you’ll understand the appeal of Buzz! Junior Ace Racers. That’s not to say you’ll want to play it, mind you, because this game is pitched quite firmly at the sort of age group that’s only just learnt how to stop dribbling down their chins. ...
