Raw Danger - hands-on

Zombies are one thing - can you survive real-life terror?

As much as we love the survival horror genre, it can grow out of proportion at times. We get chills with every new Silent Hill or Resident Evil, but escaping is always simple: stop playing and get back into reality. Reality, however, can be just as frightening, as the upcoming disaster-themed action adventure Raw Danger proves.

Think about it - a day that's so bad, it's got to be a nightmare. If you remember the movie The Day After Tomorrow, then you already have an idea of what sort of terror to expect in Raw Danger. Floods, collapsed buildings, washed away bridges - events like this happen throughout the game, and you’ve got to figure out how to circumvent through them all in mere moments.

You'll have to be quick and quick-witted - the situations in Raw Danger require thought. Some puzzles, for example, may be unsolvable unless you have been paying close attention to the game's emergency broadcast announcements. Body temperature is also a crucial factor, decreasing and increasing based upon your exposure to the brutal elements; if you’re in a freezing puddle of water too long, it’s all over, but if you circle around a blaze or find scraps of food near deserted trashcans, you’re one step closer to surviving. Creative thinking is rewarded as well - scavenge some tape and a garbage bag and you can combine them to form a protective raincoat.
