The human race is having what's commonly classed as a bad day. Firstly, a nuclear war wipes out nine-tenths of the population, and then a mutating virus threatens to destroy the poor unfortunates that are left. Despite this, a few brave souls manage to band together to try and rebuild society from the dregs of what's left... which isn't the cheeriest start to a game, we think you'll agree. This brings us neatly to Fallout: Brotherhood Of Steel. A happy little game where you, as a member of the

We admit it: when we first heard about plans for a Family Guy game, we cringed. And when we heard that it would be developed by High Voltage, creator of the craptacular Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, our testicles retracted into our bodies so fast that the impact collapsed our lungs. Don't get us wrong - we like Family Guy, but games like this tend to be horrible. Now that we've played it, however, it looks like our fears were unfounded. Not only is Family Guy shaping up to be a good time,

Thursday 17 August 2006 If you think Family Guy is a peculiar cartoon, wait until you see what the Griffin family get up to in the game. Baby Stewie's battling his unborn brother Bertram (see series three, when Stewie goes inside dad Peter's body Inner Space-style) as both try to take over the world. Meanwhile, Brian the dog's been wrongly imprisoned for impregnating Mr Pewterschmidt's greyhound Seabreeze and Peter thinks he's starring in a videogame after taking a bang on the head from a

If you think Family Guy is a peculiar cartoon, wait until you see what the Griffin family get up to in the game. Baby Stewie's battling his half-brother Bertram (see the episode when Stewie goes inside Peter's body Inner Space-style) as both try to take over the world. Meanwhile, Brian the dog's been wrongly imprisoned for impregnating Mr. Pewterschmidt's greyhound Seabreeze and Peter thinks he's starring in a videogame after taking a bang on the head from a satellite dish. Oh, the

The last outing for Marvel's fab four, published by Activision, not 2K Games, was a mediocre affair with predictable button-bashing action that barely tested your skills. Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer benefits from PS3's bolder, crisper graphics, while the gameplay's been enhanced to test your wit as well as your rapid-finger

In direct opposition to its big bro, mini FIFA is certainly a case of tweaking and fine-tuning over any wholesale alterations. For instance 07s defensive intelligence was a weak point, something that EA was keen to remedy. Thanks to the new right analog player switching and vastly improved AI, any goals you concede will now fall firmly at your feet. This new realistic defending includes increased spatial awareness regarding threats and danger zones, putting more pressure on the ball carrier,

Just to clarify, FIFA 08 on PS2 is not a cut-down version of the PS3/Xbox 360 version. It's being coded from the ground up specifically for the machine. Not only is this good news for the PS2 game, but also for the "big" versions as they won't have to keep old technology in mind. But enough about the big boys - the PS2 version got its fanfare when we visited EA, and with good reason. This looks to be the best FIFA yet. Firstly, and surprisingly, this isn't aping Winning Eleven any more. It

Now that Earth has recovered from its collective World Cup hangover (except for Italy, where the party still hasn't quite wound down), it's time for soccer superstars and regular joes alike to go back to collecting a paycheck. EA Sports focuses back on international leagues with FIFA 07, promising gobs of new features, innovations and enough frantic button press combos to make Winning Eleven fans sit up and take notice. We got to kick the ball around the pitch in PS2 and Xbox preview versions

Friday 4 August 2006 For years Pro Evolution Soccer has been the critic's choice of football game. Its fluid grace and satisfying realism has made FIFA appear lacklustre and almost dull in comparison. But, on the strength of our recent hands-on session with FIFA 07, that's all about to change. A rigorous overhaul of FIFA's core has put the focus on making the basics work, rather than creating a raft of unique but useless special features. "We've really concentrated on the fundamentals," FIFA

We’re mindful of overstating this - regular readers might be aware of previous false dawns for FIFA on PS2 - but maybe, just maybe, this is the year FIFA emerges as a legitimate alternative to Pro Evo, not only for casual fans, but hardcore gamers, too. Truth is, the process has already started. We’re at EA’s offices in Vancouver, Canada, ready for our FIFA 09 hands-on. Before play, however, we’re given a presentation
