Bookworm or not, it seems almost everybody is a fan of half-blood wizard Harry Potter. With the bespectacled one's fourth term at Hogwarts just around the corner, will this movie tie-in pass with flying colours, or will scarface and chums flunk out?The exciting prologue, set in the Quidditch World Cup campsite, confirms that Goblet of Fire has shifted away from the childish, cartoony look of Prisoner of Azkaban and plumped for a darker, more cinematic style. There's also a marked change of pace

Compared to EA's newest racing acquisition Burnout, the last Need for Speed outing was a little underwhelming. While it sold well to those gamers who prefer to spend their money on fully established, 'safe' buys, Need for Speed wasn't anywhere near Burnout's level. However, thanks to the new graphical splendour bestowed upon this new iteration by the advanced power of Xbox 360 (or should we say, ), NFS has been given a new lease of life. Everything's just so much more intricately detailed

Sony has had a tumultuous 2011 so far. Highs included LittleBigPlanet 2, Killzone 3 and all the positive buzz about its follow-up to PSP, and the lows included its hardware being hacked to the point of a total online shutdown that ended very recently. Sunnier skies seem ahead, including more concrete details on the NGP (perhaps an official name that may or may not be Vita?), plus probable appearances by Resistance 3 and Uncharted 3, we couldn’t wait to soak in Sony’s E3 press conference...

We got more hands on time with an early build of .hack//G.U. Vol. 1//Rebirth and were pleased with how this simulated MMORPG game is shaping up. The game takes place in the not so distant future where a fantasy based online role-playing game called The World has become a cultural phenomenon. You control Haseo, a brash and somewhat rude Adept Rogue who needs to find a way to save his friend Shino from certain death by defeating Tri-Edge, a mysterious PK (Player Killer) who put Shino into a

.hack is back. More than two and a half years since the final installment in the original .hack saga wrapped up, a new story is beginning. Set seven years after the original game - and 11 years from right now - .hack//G.U. presents a world where online gaming has become synonymous with everyday life. If anything, that future world seems more like 11 minutes from now, with controversies over game addiction, game violence and governments monitoring their citizens making up the headlines on its

You wouldnt be remiss to consider EA Sports latest soccer game a quick sequel to the annual chart-topper, FIFA Soccer. No doubt the publisher wants to cash in on its massive investment in the worlds biggest sporting event. Curiously though, this games producer goes to great lengths to pitch 2006 FIFA World Cup as a sequel to the 2002 World Cup iteration, and not the recent FIFA Soccer 06. This matters why? Mainly because FIFA Soccer 06 was generally considered to be pretty stinky, particularly

After reading 50 Cent's biography, it comes as no surprise that the bullet-riddled rapper is starring in his own virtual adventure. Indeed, 50's eventful history of making dollars, building rep and getting shot enough times to kill a baby elephant, sounds more like a game synopsis than real life. But while Mr Cent might have all the necessary credentials to be an ass-capping avatar, if the game's a big pile of steaming toilet food then people will be especially quick to berate it as a smash

It's kind of hard to identify with the cold steel of jet fighters. Even with human pilots, the machines always take center stage in dogfighting games as they streak through the sky, filling the azure air with white-hot lead and missiles across an otherwise peaceful landscape. So it's up to the intense, toe-curling action to keep you interested, and that's something the Ace Combat series has always kept onboard. Whether it's escorting a convoy of allies through enemy terrain or obliterating a
