Games have two ways to burn themselves into your memory forever - either by being so real you can't believe they're just a game, or by being so unreal that you love how game-y they are. Katamari Damacy is the latter, with an intro that has such lunatic confidence you can't take your eyes off it from the moment the big band kicks in and the rainbow spotlights come up on the King of All Cosmos.

With a theme tune that will never, ever leave your head and an unrelenting shower of animal, vegetable and fun-neral confetti tripping the color fantastic, it's nearly the opposite of what we've come to expect from game intros.

It doesn't want to be a movie, it won't leave you disappointed when the game starts, and it's not trying to cram 700 pages of overcomplicated backstory into a jump-cut MTV special.
